The Oakland Raiders will likely be picking early in the first round, as well as late, thanks to the trade they made with the Chicago Bears for Khalil Mack. The truth is, the Bears look like a formidable playoff team this season, especially after seeing second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky throw for six touchdowns this past weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With their second pick in the first round, the Raiders should continue to focus on the defense, as their offense has been explosive this season. This offseason, the team brought in Rashaan Melvin on a one-year deal to play opposite Gareon Conley at cornerback, and with a good season, he may choose to find work elsewhere.
That would make the cornerback position a huge priority entering the 2019 NFL Draft, and luckily for them, the draft class has some first round talent. One player who could hear his name called in the first round is Amani Oruwariye from Penn State, who not only has soft hands, but the kind of coverage skills this Raiders secondary needs.
Oakland has had issues at the cornerback position for years, but it looks like 2017 first rounder Conley is rounding into a true CB1 at the NFL level. Still, they lack depth a the position, and a guy like Oruqariye would be a big upgrade over most of the cornerbacks the Raiders currently have on their roster.
