Heisman Watch 2018: Three new stars emerge, Will Grier slightly slides
2018 Stats: 639 rush yds, 5.56 ypc, 8 rush TD, 1 pass TD
Next Game: @ Texas A&M
Benny Snell Jr. is quickly becoming one of the most feared and planned-for running backs in the SEC, and has Kentucky fans smelling a meaningful game in December for the first time in decades.
Snell was held to under 100 yards for only the second time this season, the first being against Murray State when he had limited snaps in a 48-10 blowout. He did add one reception for 14 yards to his 99-yard rushing total against South Carolina.
The game against Texas A&M could prove to be a real hiccup in Snell’s Heisman campaign. Jimbo Fisher will have his team fired up, and the 12th man will be in full voice at Kyle Field. The Aggies will be looking to spoil Kentucky’s perfect start, and are actually favorites in this game.
Texas A&M also boasts the No. 6 rushing defense in the nation, giving up only 85 yards per game. Even if Snell doesn’t accumulate a lot of yardage, he can still stay near the top of the Heisman list if he can break a big run or two that leads the Wildcats to a win.
