Who should you be rooting for if your team isn’t in October?

Houston Astros

If you want to be boring, this is your team. Remember all the nice things I said about the Red Sox and how they have no real weakness? The same ting applies to the Astros. The only difference is, the Astors won the World Series last year.

Take it from me; someone who rooted for the Astros last year, it’s no fun rooting for them this year. I love me some Justin Verlander, the entire world fell in love with Jose Altuve last season, and the tragedy of Hurricane Harvey united the city and the nation. But that magic is still gone. Verlander and Altuve are still there and I’m in no way saying Houston has moved on from the Hurricane, but in terms of capturing that magic. It simply can’t be replicated.

Rooting for the Astros is a cop out. If they win, you can brag about being right. If they lose, you can say, “Whatever, they won last year.’ Don’t be so lame. Take a risk and either have something real to brag about or being in a semi-real pain when the team you’ve latched on to gets eliminated.

Other reasons to root for the Houston Astros

Did you not read everything I just wrote? You should not be rooting for the Astros. They just won 12 months ago. They’re one of the favorites again this postseason. If you’re going to root for them, keep it to yourself. Don’t ruin everyone else’s fun by attaching to the most obvious team.
