NFL Fantasy Football: Week 5 Value Plays

Derek Carr:

Salary: Draftkings: $5,200 |  Fanduel: $7,000

Last week, we made the case of C.J. Beathard being a good play going up against the San Diego Chargers and for his price, he was. Now Derek Carr gets to face the same exact defense but I believe he has the better offense to have a better outing. Carr has put up 12.22, 15.52, 18.6, and 36.58 so far this season, every week getting better. Now can he out do his 36.58 against the Browns, facing the Chargers this weekend? Probably not but he’ll most like put up similar numbers facing the 21st ranked passing defense, who allow 275 yards through the air. As long as Marshawn Lynch keeps running and doing his thing, Carr will have the pressure taken off of his shoulders to make better passes.

Aaron Jones:

Salary: Draftkings: $4,300 | Fanduel: $6,100

Bringing in a fresh talent, Aaron Jones has found a name for himself with Green Bay Packer fans already. Possibly being a little chalky this week, Jones gets to face the Detroit Lions who rank dead last in the rushing defense department. Now Jones has had two work weeks so far and last week was his best show-case of what he can do when he faced the Buffalo Bills. He ran 11 times for 65 yards, a rushing touchdown plus made a nice catch, his only of the day, that went for 17 yards. The Lions have given up three hundred yard rushing games this season already so expect for Jones, if he gets the main work load, to do something very similar and he should see the end-zone once again.

Amari Cooper:

Salary: Draftkings: $5,500 | Fanduel: $6,500

Heading back to the Oakland Raiders, Amari Cooper is in as a value play also. Costing only $5,500, Cooper has a good match-up also. The Chargers have already given up a hundred yards receiving to three different receivers in their first four games. But this is where the risk comes in, Cooper has had only two games where he has had double-digit targets but when he does have ten or more targets, he breaks out for a hundred yards receiving. Another down side is that he’s only found the end-zone once so far also. If he can get on the same page with Carr this Sunday expect him to have an amazing game and return value.

T.J. Yeldon

Salary: Draftkings: $5,600 | Fanduel: $6,500

For someone who has been carrying the workload, T.J. Yeldon comes in at a very affordable price going up against the Kansas City Chiefs who rank 28th in rush defense, allowing 123 yards per game. Leonard Fournette has already been ruled out for Week 5 and there is rumble that he’ll be out even longer. Yeldon is a multi-purpose running-back who can get it done on the ground or through the air, but he has only hit the end-zone three times so far through both, passing and rushing. He may not put up a hundred yards on the ground but in all-purpose yards, he does. At $5,600 and being the starting running-back, it’s hard to pass up on Yeldon, who may be a little higher owned due to his price tag.
