The Milwaukee Brewers took Game 1 of their National League Division Series against the Colorado Rockies, doing so in dramatic fashion.

The Brewers only needed three more outs in the top of the ninth inning to sew up Game 1. It didn’t happen, and so the sold-out crowd at Miller Park had to wait another inning for the celebration to begin.

Mike Moustakas, acquired at the trade deadline from the Kansas City Royals to bolster an already strong lineup, singled with two outs to drive in Christian Yelich, sending the fans home happy with a 3-2 win. Yelich had been responsible for Milwaukee’s other two runs, smacking a 413-foot home run in the third inning to give the Brew Crew a 2-0 lead.

For Colorado, the loss is especially tough after coming back and making a bid to steal a game on the road. The Rockies were stymied throughout the first eight innings before rallying against closer Jeremy Jeffress. Jeffress allowed three consecutive singles to begin the frame, with Colorado cutting the lead in half with men on first and second with nobody out. An error on Orlando Arcia loaded the bases, with Nolan Arenado’s sac fly tying the game on the following at-bat.

Jeffress was able to battle back afterwards, getting the final two outs without incident. In the bottom of the 10th, Moustakas became the hero, something he’s used to being in the postseason after reaching consecutive World Series with the Royals in 2014 and ’15.

Game 2 is scheduled for Friday afternoon (3:15 p.m. ET) at Miller Park once more, with the probable starters being Tyler Anderson for the Rockies and Jhoulys Chacin for the Brewers.
