With rivalry games and key conference match-ups, Week 6 of college football has plenty to offer. Here is a look at the best games of the week.
Itās hard to believe we are at the half-way point of the college football season, but every fall I sit and wonder how it all goes by so fast. Over the past few weeks, weāve seen upsets, Heisman candidates put themselves firmly in the conversation and dominant performances by the few College Football Playoff contenders.
While we should all expect more of the same this weekend, there is plenty more to watch when Week 6 kicks off on Saturday.
With Texas bouncing back after a disappointing start to the season, the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma looks like the game of the week.
Florida State will visit Miami in a rivalry that has produced some of the greatest regular season games in college football history. LSU and Florida will face off in a huge SEC game, while Notre Dame will visit the Hokies in anĀ attempt to stay in the playoff discussion.
Week 6 looks primed to bring more memories to college football fans across the nation and here is everything you need to know about the must-watch games of the week.
Florida State at (17) Miami ā 3:30 p.m. ET ā ABC
In a game known for kicks going wide-right, Miami-Florida State is one of the great college football rivalries and no matter the records, this game is always one to watch.
The Seminoles will enter the game as an 11-point underdog, which looks rather high considering their two losses came against solid competition. Head coach Willie Taggart is in his first season with Florida State and has immediately felt the heat of his seat. The Seminoles finally secured a meaningful victory against Louisville last weekend, but leading up to that game, they had been blown out by both Virginia Tech and Syracuse. Quarterback Deondre Francois had a career game against the Cardinalās, but the Florida State team will need a much better all-around performance to knock off Miami this weekend.
The Hurricanes come into the game with only one loss, which came against a great LSU team. Since that game, Miami has blown by the competitionĀ but hasnāt had a true test since playing the Tigers. While Florida State doesnāt look to be that test on paper, Miami knows they will come to play this weekend.
To avoid the upset at home, Miami will look to continue to establish their ground attack, led by running backs Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas. If Miami can control the ball and force the Seminoles to play from behind early, they should be leaving the game with their 5th win of the season.
Fans should throw the records out the window this Saturday. When these teams face off, itās about bragging rights. Both teams have already taken shots at each other leading up the game, with Miami calling the Seminole āturnover backpackā a purse, but talk doesnāt decide a game. Expect a close contest from start to finish, but Miami should be able to avoid the upset at home.
