3. LSU Tigers

Rank: 5 | Opponent: 22 Florida Gators | Start Time: 3:30 p.m. ET

One of the top-25 matchups of Week 6 of the season is one that many fans likely didn’t expect, or at least one where one of the teams wasn’t expected to be ranked as highly as the LSU Tigers are. However, both the Tigers and the Florida Gators have taken a dramatic turn for the better this year in relation to recent seasons, putting LSU at No. 5 in the country and Florida sitting at a cool 22nd.

LSU will have to go down to the Swamp for this game, which puts them in a tough spot, surely. However, this isn’t a team that has crumbled in the face of a challenge to this point in the season. They started out the year with a neutral-site win over the Miami Hurricanes in dominant fashion and went on the road to grind out a win over the Auburn Tigers. After fending off an explosive Ole Miss team with ease last week, there’s no questioning the quality of the Tigers.

Florida has not yet been tested to that degree, but they’ve looked anew after losing to Kentucky in Week 2. They dominated Colorado State and Tennessee and then fought to get a tough win on the road against Mississippi State last week. Dan Mullen has this team playing as good as they have in years.

However, with both of these teams being surprise teams in terms of how good they’ve looked overall, there is always the fear of them coming back to Earth. On the road, that fear is a little greater for LSU in this matchup, which puts them on upset alert in my book.
