It’s time for matchweek 8 of the Premier League. There are plenty of exciting games to watch. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
The Premier League is back for another weekend before the international break. There’s plenty of great games in matchweek 8, including Manchester City’s trip to Liverpool and Newcastle’s visit to Old Trafford to play Manchester United.
Fulham face a tough test as they welcome Arsenal to Craven Cottage while Chelsea travel to Southampton looking to keep up their good form. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
1. Newcastle get shock win over Manchester United
Both Newcastle and Manchester United are in poor runs of form. United seem to be having an identity crisis while Newcastle can’t seem to get that first win which would kickstart their season.
After watching Newcastle’s first game of the season, in which they were narrowly beaten by Tottenham, it’s hard to think they’ve only managed two draws from their last six league matches.
In that match Rafa Benitez’s side looked dangerous going forward and they were unlucky not to come away with at least a point. However, since then everything has gone downhill for the Toon but the disappointment in results is perhaps a little exaggerated.
The Magpies have had a tough run of games, facing Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and a Leicester side that have started the season very well. It’s wrong to think Newcastle can’t turn things around, although it may be foolish to think that it will happen this weekend.
The best thing about this game for Newcastle is that nobody will expect them to take anything from the match. That should make the match much more difficult for Manchester United than some of their fans might think.
This should be an easy three points for Jose Mourinho’s side but after watching them in midweek and in recent matches it’s hard to think any points will be easy for United at the moment. Rafa Benitez will come and make this game difficult for Manchester United and it will be up to Mourinho to figure out how to break down the Newcastle defense.
That’s something his side failed to do against Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday and the Spanish side were playing a relatively open brand of soccer. Look for Newcastle to sit back, absorb lots of pressure and steal a goal on the counter to leave Old Trafford with all three points.
