Tim Tebow agrees with Nick Saban, slams entitled Alabama fans
The only thing that’s been disappointing for Alabama football this year is the lack of support shown by the Crimson Tide student body.
Alabama hasn’t received much in the way of competition in the first month of the season, but that didn’t stop head coach Nick Saban from finding a new source of motivation. Earlier this week, Saban took aim at the student section that was pretty much empty for Alabama’s noon kick vs. Louisiana last Saturday.
Saban expressed disappointment at the fans who may have had other things to do on parent’s weekend than watch Tua Tagovailoa and company go up approximately 900 points in the first half. He also thinks the fans have been spoiled by the success of the football team and they’re not entitled to anything.
If it were up to Saban, these tickets would go to the people who are going to support the players and foster an environment that has been a crucial factor in making Bryant-Denny Stadium such a tough place for opponents and enhances the wonderful tradition of the football program that makes other people want to play here.
I didn’t think Saban was wrong in anything he had to say. He’s done this before and he’ll have to do so again. He’s sticking up for his players who don’t want to run out to a stadium with an empty student section in the south end zone or students who have grown spoiled that they can’t even cheer for the team during introductions.
And you know Saban has made a really good point when former Florida quarterback and ESPN commentator, Tim Tebow, was in agreement and thinks they are spoiled and have to do better if they want to call themselves the best fans in college football.

Tebow unleashed his thoughts about the entitled Alabama fans and their lack of support Friday morning on First Take.
"“I think the fans are getting so entitled there at Alabama, specifically the students. Listen, as a student, you’ve done nothing to win all these titles, okay? You spent a little bit of your daddy’s money to show up at a game and to go to school there, but if you say you’re the best fans in college football you need to show up. I don’t care if you’re playing Louisiana whoever or Hoover High School, you show up to the game and you support your team.”"
I really love what Tebow has to say here. He makes sure to specify he’s not talking about all of the Alabama fandom because it is a tremendous fandom with a lot of passion and they are supporting their team and aren’t happy to see all the empty seats in the stadium. If they could take those seats from the students, they’d be sold out before you get to the second verse of “Sweet Home, Alabama.”
When Tebow mentions the students didn’t do anything to win all the titles that make Alabama a special place, he’s speaking the harsh truths that they may need to hear to let it register that they need to support the team they rep every week, whether it’s LSU or Auburn or Hoover High School. You don’t get to pick when you are a die-hard fan. There are only so many home games each season and you can’t take a vacation because you want to sleep in on a Saturday or you don’t care to see your team win by so much. Just think about how backwards that is for a second.
The next home game for Alabama is next Saturday against Missouri and the real excitement won’t be the final score, because the Tide will roll, but rather if the student section is packed, and stays for the duration of the game.
I have a feeling it’ll be packed to avoid feeling the wrath of Saban….and Tebow again.
