The Red River Rivalry comes with playoff implications in 2018. ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ will be live to preview the battle between Texas and Oklahoma on Saturday.

For the first time in what feels like forever, the Red River Rivalry carries some serious weight on Saturday. In recent memory, it was Oklahoma coming in with big aspirations while Texas just looked to upset their bitter rival. On Saturday, both teams come in ranked and ready to fight. ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ will be live from the Cotton Bowl.

After a disappointing start to the season against Maryland, Tom Herman’s program has turned things around in a big way. With wins over USC, TCU and Kansas State in the past three weeks, the Longhorns are adding signature wins to their resume this season. Defeating Oklahoma would be the ultimate one.

As usual, ‘College GameDay’ will start bright and early for everyone around the country. With these two meeting and both programs being ranked, it was an easy decision for the location of the show this week.

Date: Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018

Kyler Murray has been sensational for Oklahoma thus far this season and continues to boost his Heisman resume each week. The quarterback had seven total touchdowns in a victory last week and continues to amaze.

This battle between the two has always been a classic even when Texas is down. If the Longhorns were to come away with a victory over Oklahoma on Saturday, it would create quite the jump for them in the rankings.

Thus far, the Sooners have yet to lose and going against them has been a tough task for most defenses. This could end up being the best game in the rivalry in quite some time.
