DraftKings NFL: Week 5 GPP Sleeper Picks – Main’s Mavericks
Main’s Mavericks – Week 5 DraftKings NFL GPP Picks
Main’s Mavericks is providing weekly Draftkings NFL GPP contest advice by searching out low-salary, boom-or-bust plays destined to outperform value. As a general rule for this article, I target players below $5,000. My goal is to pick value plays who I believe can exceed 4-5 times their value (EX: $5,000 player x 4 = 20DK Pts). I will be using all of my picks in Week 5 DraftKings NFL GPP tournaments as boom-or-bust punt options. Saving on these volatile players will allow you to pay-up for superstars when building that Week 5 DraftKings NFL $1,000,000 lineup.
Week 4 Mains Mavericks Highlights:
If you were on-board with Mains Mavericks then you had a great week 4! All of my picks exceeded value! Here are the highlights of last week’s article:
Mitchell Trubisky 5,200 vs TB (20th Priced QB in Milly Maker) – 46.46 (9x Value after having a career day! I hope everyone stacked the Bears game like I did!)
Tarik Cohen 4,100 vs TB (34th Priced RB in Milly Maker) – 33.40 (8.5x Value!)
Nyheim Hines 3,800 vs HOU (44th Priced RB in Milly Maker) – 28.30 (8.5x Value!)
Tyler Eifert 3,800 @ ATL (8th Priced TE) – 13.80 (3.5x Value!)
Week 5 DraftKings NFL GPP Sleeper Picks
QB:
Derek Carr 5,200 vs LAC
The Chargers defense just gave up 27 points to a C.J. Beatherd led offense. They have no pass rush without Bosa, and now they take on an Oakland offense that put up gaudy DK stats against Cleveland in week 4. I will happily stack this game and play a $5,200 QB that just put up 6x value and his price only jumped $100.

RB:
Derrick Henry 4,400 at BUF
Henry is a gut play. He has not looked too impressive this season, never topping 58 rushing yards in a game this season. When everyone starts jumping off a player, that’s when I like to play him. The leverage against the field will be incredible if Henry is able to take advantage of this weak Bills defensive line. I predict Henry breaks a huge run this week.
Ty Montgomery 3,800 vs DET
The Packer receiving core is extremely thin this week. Montgomery will likely be the Packers 3rd WR due to injuries to Cobb and Allison. Adams looks like he will be good to go, but is nursing a sore calf. Montgomery will not be heavily involved in the ground, but he should be on the field a lot for this shootout.
WR:
Jordy Nelson 4,500 @ LAC
I’m going to keep harping on the LAC – OAK stack. And I tend to favor the Oakland side. The StubHub Center will be 80-20 Oakland fans this week. Nelson has topped 17 fantasy points in his last 2 games while averaging 8 targets per game. His price just hasn’t caught up to his production yet.
Martavis Bryant 3,400 @ LAC
Everyone and their mom will be stacking the ATL – PIT game. I’m perfectly content fading that game and going all in on LAC – OAK. Bryant has 16 targets through 3 games this season, and is the primary deep threat for Derek Carr. Had he not dropped a perfect pass last week where he got behind the D, he would have hit 7x value. Stack him with Carr!
TE:
Jeff Heuerman 2,600 @ NYJ
This is a simply a punt play. Heuerman had 7 targets last week, and is trending up. Do not expect great things, but if he is able to get into the end zone he can reach 5x value.
