One of the best way to play the waiver wire is to try and get ahead of the crowd on Wednesday morning and stash players on Saturday!

Week 6 starts in a few days and while Week 5 still needs to play out, that doesn’t mean we can’t get ready for next week on the Waiver Wire. There’s some players that can be a big advantage not only next week but the following week. Depending on your roster construction, there’s plenty of fantasy goodness to be had, including someone who could be a major player down the stretch.

D’Onta Foreman, Houston Texans – This player isn’t going to help you immediately since the earliest he can come off the PUP list is Week 7. There’s also questions about how his Achilles injury is healed and how it will affect him on the field. However, Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue have really not done much to keep their jobs. If Foreman is anywhere near 100 percent, he could take over the lead back role in a hurry for an offense that features a pretty solid passing game. Worst case scenario, you can drop him in a few weeks if things aren’t working out. The best case scenario is he could be a rock solid RB2 in the second half of the season.

Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers – Olsen checks in at 64 percent ownership on Yahoo so he’s way higher owned than we normally go. Still, what really needs to be said about Olsen? He’s a top 5-8 tight end the second he comes back into the lineup and might be back as soon as next week. The risk of injuring his foot again are likely very high but until he does hurt it, he needs to be 100 percent owned.

Mark Walton, Cincinnati Bengals – I already tweeted out to get Walton on your roster, but in case you’ve missed it, Gio Bernard is out for 2-4 weeks with an MCL sprain. Not only is Walton now the primary handcuff/backup for Joe Mixon but Mixon himself is coming off a knee surgery. The Bengals seem optimistic that he’s ready to play but Marvin Lewis has already said that Mixon might be eased back into the lineup. If he happens to get injured while Bernard is out, Walton is going to be about the only back in Cincinnati. Have him on your roster now to see what kind of role he has and beat the waivers if Mixon would unfortunately get hurt again.

Ronald Jones/Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – I’ve made the case before for Jones after he saw his first NFL action before the Bucs went on their bye week. He draws the Falcons this upcoming week and it’s been one of the best matchups a running back could ask for, especially in the passing game. Now, we don’t know what kind of role Jones would have in the passing game since the Bucs have an excellent trio of receivers but if Jones blows up in this game, he can already be on you roster.

Brate and recently reinstated quarterback Jameis Winston have always had a chemistry and the guts is O.J. Howard is going to miss at least this game. Even as of today, this game would project to be one of the highest scoring of the week and that’s all you can ask for with a tight end that you’re plucking off of waivers.

Mohamed Sanu, Atlanta Falcons – Calvin Ridley has gotten all the attention due his massive spike in touchdowns and the fact that he was a first round pick out of Alabama. He’s ben fantastic so far but it’s important to remember when the touchdowns fade a little bit, Ridley won’t be quite as productive. Sanu has seen more snaps by a very healthy margin and has actually seen more targets than Ridley on the season. The Buccaneers have been abjectly terrible defensively all season long and there’s no real reason to think that’s going to change coming out of their bye week.
