College football AP Top 25: Week 7 winners and losers

Winner: Florida Gators (No. 22 up to No. 14)
What can we make of the Gators? One week they’re losing to Kentucky at home and the next they’re pulling off an upset on the road against Mississippi State followed by a huge win over No. 5 LSU. The Gators have had a tale of two seasons, but it’s evident that this team is getting stronger by the week.
Feleipe Franks has been criticized heavily in his young career, but it looks like Dan Mullen has the talented passer headed in the right direction. He’s playing with confidence and despite his lackluster completion rate, he was strong with his arm and legs.
Mullen has Florida back on the right track. In the same season Texas looks like it’s “back”, the Gators are also trending up. What is this, 2007?
The Swamp has life again and that’s all thanks to Mullen. This team is no longer a lay-up in the SEC and as long as the offense can play at a high level, the Gators will be contending — seriously — in the SEC.
For now, the upset of LSU will be enough to shoot them into the top-20 and given them life moving forward.
