College football rankings: Week 7 AP Top 25
The newest version of the AP Top 25 college football rankings have been released, and there was some movement in the Week 7 poll.
Looking at the schedule in Week 6, it didn’t look like we’d see many solid games, but there were some underrated matchups that took the cake around college football.
We saw Mississippi State host No. 8 Auburn and the seemingly down-on-their-luck Bulldogs were able to upset the Tigers just one week after falling to Florida at home in Dan Mullen’s return. This win was enough to drop Auburn out of the top-10 and give the Bulldogs some AP Top 25 consideration — again.
Florida and LSU also battled in the SEC and the Gators pulled off the upset of the Tigers in a big home win on the same night Tim Tebow was inducted into the ring of honor.
Oh, and that old Red River Showdown took place. The Texas Longhorns had a chance to make a statement with a win over No. 7 Oklahoma and they did just that. Building a 21-point lead in the second-half, Texas barely held on after a furious Oklahoma comeback as Cameron Dicker hit the game-winning field goal with under 10 seconds left to upset the Sooners.
The biggest conferences in college football are all up for grabs and Week 6 was a perfect example of that.
Some of the biggest movers were Texas, Florida, West Virginia, Washington and Penn State. Each of these teams saw big jumps while others fell drastically.
Kentucky went from No. 13 to No. 18, Oklahoma dropped to No. 11, LSU went down to No. 13 and Auburn to No. 21.
