Running Backs: Matt Breida, San Francisco 49ers- $6,200 & Dion Lewis, Tennessee Titans- $5,700

San Francisco’s offense didn’t look as bad as most expected, after losing starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL. Despite still losing 29-27 to the Los Angeles Chargers, C.J. Beathard held is own.

With that being said, Breida’s role in the offense should increase. Last week, he was held to 39 yards on nine carries and caught three passes for 32 yards. Even though the production wasn’t there, he played in 63 percent of the snaps. Meanwhile, his back up, Alfred Morris only played in 14 snaps.

Breida’s Week 5 matchup at home against the Arizona Cardinals is optimal. His only 100+ yard game this season was at Levi’s Stadium. The Cardinals have allowed the most fantasy points per game to running backs this season. They have totaled 520 yards and seven touchdowns.

In three of the Cardinals’ four games, they have allowed backs to eclipse the 100-yard mark. And a running back has scored at least one touchdown in all four games. The Cardinals also struggle with defending backs in the pass game. On average, they are giving up five receptions for about 50 yards. Breida has had at least three catches in three consecutive games.

The second-year back is still dealing with a shoulder injury, according to Joe Fann of the 49ers’ official site. If he plays, San Francisco will lean on Breida all afternoon.

For the second time this season, Lewis finished with double digit fantasy points. Last week, it wasn’t his production running the ball, it was his impact in the pass game that earned him 11.1 fantasy points.

The Titans defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in overtime, 26-23. Lewis caught a career high nine passes for 66 yards in the victory. He was held to zero rushing yards on four carries. In his defense, Lewis went up against the top rush defense in the league.

This week, Lewis and the Titans take on a much inferior team against the run, the Buffalo Bills. Running backs have tallied 301 yards and five touchdowns against the Bills. Furthermore, they have allowed backs to catch the fifth most passes in the league.

Lewis is becoming one of Marcus Mariota’s favorite options. He is second on the team in receptions and targets. He has played in nearly 62 percent of the offensive snaps and has been on the field more than teammate Derrick Henry.

The combination of Lewis’ versatility and price value makes him a valuable asset in Week 5.
