No. 7 Devin Funchess vs New York (Giants)

Devin Funchess is one of the most important pieces in the Carolina Panthers offense. Really, he’s probably the one wideout that can keep Cam Newton from being forced to make something out of nothing.

Here’s an odd ESPN fantasy stat: Funchess is owned in 82% of leagues but only started in about 20 percent. Coming off the bye facing the Giants who have been one of the best against the pass in three, not four (we’ll talk about it) of their matchups is a tough call.

That one matchup that wasn’t like the others? Houston. Carolina’s receiver core is similar, plus the added fact that McCaffrey is so difficult to stop in the pass game. That presents a really good opportunity for Newton and Co., coming off a bye, to get a fast start. Stop what you’re doing and put Funchess in.
