Atlanta Braves rookie sensation Ronald Acuna tattooed a grand slam that gave us a moment of pure postseason ecstasy.

There are few sounds guaranteed to raise the hairs on your neck like the crescendo of a crowd at sporting event roaring to life. Specifically, the sound of a baseball crowd in October as the individual fan collectively becomes one chaotic chorus of joy when something goes their way.

Braves fans experienced this on Sunday night as Ronald Acuna delivered an instant classic postseason moment. With the Atlanta trailing in the NLDS to Los Angeles two games to none, Acuna rocketed a grand slam deep into the Georgia night and electrified the crowd in the process.

This wasn’t just a highlight, it was a Moment:

  1. Acuna is probably going to win Rookie of the Year and is a face of the future in baseball
  2. He’s the youngest player to ever hit a grand slam in the postseason (he was born in 1997)
  3. The pitcher he tattooed was Walker Buehler, arguably the ace of the Dodgers staff right now
  4. It blew the score open to 5-0 at the time, in a win-or-go-home game
  5. The sound of that crowd is a postseason mood we forget about until we hear it

Acuna is the most talented young player in baseball, and the great thing about him is he’s not the only great young player the Braves have. Ozzie Albies, Dansby Swanson, and Johan Camargo are all 24-years-old and ready to become the best young infield in baseball. Acuna is the leader of the youth movement and a constant reminder that the Baby Braves are starting to grow up.

Beyond all that, the sound of the crowd roaring to life is the sound of the postseason. All that’s missing is the camera shaking from the shockwaves of everyone jumping and the fans slapping the wall along the foul line and we’d have the picture perfect image of playoff baseball.

You don’t need to root for the Braves to want to inject everything about this moment directly into your veins.
