Kim and Jimmy appeal the board’s decision while Werner Ziegler has escaped Gus’ facility and gone rogue on the Better Call Saul season 4 finale.

The decision to keep Jimmy barred from the practicing law almost inadvertently created a rift between Kim and Jimmy, but eventually cooler heads prevailed. The couple will look to appeal the board’s decision on tonight’s Better Call Saul season 4 finale. It’ll be a tough feat to accomplish on a matter as subjective as the board calling Jimmy “insincere” last episode. “How do you disprove insincere?”

Nevertheless, Jimmy’s very livelihood depends on it or what he’s worked so hard to accomplish will evaporate with another year of waiting. In Jimmy’s words, “A lot can change in 10 months,” now imagine another year where Jimmy cannot practice law and forced to be a cell phone store manager …

Werner Ziegler did not heed Mike’s advice to push through the job if he wants to see his wife, seemingly ungrateful for his extended phone call provided by Mike, and escaped the facility on last week’s Better Call Saul cliffhanger. He leaves behind a note explaining his actions and a buffet of complications for Mike to handle with employer Gus.

Mike previously warned Ziegler that Gus was not a man to be trifled with despite their very lucrative amenities while doing the job on site. That there would be serious consequences if he slipped up again as he had back when he was drunk at the bar. Now, once again, Ziegler has pushed Mike to the brink with his actions, and an unhappy Gus will not leave Mike much leeway. It’s Mike’s responsibility after all to look after the workers, and he’s unfortunately overly trusted Ziegler to be mature enough to not require too much supervision as opposed to young counterpart Kai.

In reality, Ziegler might not be talking to his wife at all. Security has previously remarked that his phone calls consist of the same back-and-forth banter, perhaps, it’s not his “wife” on that line at all but some kind of task force looking into Gus’ business, allowing it to develop under the guise of secrecy. Either way, even if it really is his wife that he desperately misses so much, he’d escape the facility, which Mike presumably believes, Ziegler has overstepped his bounds … Maybe for the last time if Gus makes the call. Gus already has Lalo Salamanca breathing down his neck with a smile on his face. Lalo made a subtle proposition last week about taking down Don Eladio together, but while he laughed it off right after, it sure didn’t seem like a joke.

“Winner” episode description, preview trailer and sneak peek:

"Jimmy turns the page on his reputation; Lalo tracks a loose end in Gus’ operation; Mike is forced to make a difficult decision."

Kim and Jimmy will work together on the season 4 finale of Better Call Saul to appeal the board’s direction on not lifting the suspension. The fight will hinge on the idea that they pretended to give Jimmy a chance, when in fact, they’d already made a decision before he ever stepped in the room. Will the appeal prove fruitful in bringing Jimmy’s law license back to life? How will the Kim and Jimmy’s relationship be impacted if the appeal does not bring about a win for Jimmy?

On the other side of town in the preview trailer, Howard announces that Hamlin, Hamlin and McGill is back! Is it a clue that Jimmy is the McGill part of the equation returning or a simple call to arms motivational internal video or promotional commercial?

Jimmy will have to prove his reputation has changed as the lingering damage from Chuck continues even past his death. “The man could write a letter though, give him that.” As Jimmy stated last week, it’ll be close to impossible to disprove insincere. Perhaps, Chuck left a final message to the board prior to his death requesting Jimmy never be reinstated?

Werner’s letter is all Mike and Gus will have to go on that he will not go to the police. However, Gus might have had enough of Ziegler’s issues from not getting the job done in the time frame promised, to letting secrets fly over a couple of beers, to the latest leaving without permission. Mike’s words trying to solidify Ziegler’s credibility over “going to see his wife for just four days” might not be enough anymore on the season 4 finale of Better Call Saul.
