After Texas gave Oklahoma their first loss, there will be a new No. 1 team in the Big 12 power rankings but how far did the Sooners fall?

Week 6 provided arguably the Big 12’s most intriguing day of football yet. It featured the downfall of Oklahoma, the conference’s top team, and the defeat of the other in-state squad, Oklahoma State. Both losses had implications for the nation, as well.

Texas became the team to take the Sooners down, and it placed them in the top 10 of the college football rankings. They finally broke through under head coach Tom Herman, and it seems this program’s prestigious performances are back.

With Oklahoma losing their place at the top of the Big 12 power rankings, Texas and West Virginia are in the running to take the top spot entering Week 7.

Kansas was always bound to fall back to earth, especially once the core of their Big 12 schedule started. So, with Saturday’s loss to West Virginia, it set the wheels in motion for another troublesome season in Lawrence.

The Jayhawks managed to get something from their running game, with 65 yards from Pooka Williams Jr. and a touchdown from Kahlil Herbert. However, two interceptions in the air cost them and contributed to the loss.

Texas Tech’s air-raid attack will face Kansas next. A difficult opponent to keep up with, how wide could the scoring margin be?

The 2018-19 season has not proved kind to Kansas State, who had two cupcake victories in the first three weeks. A run against ranked teams and an interesting Baylor team curtailed their hopes from becoming 2-4 and instead dropped to No. 9 in the Big 12 rankings.

The Wildcats kept the matchup close at 37-34, including a huge day from Alex Barnes’ 250 yards and three touchdowns. Two interceptions from quarterback Skylar Thompson contributed to the downfall, however, and a big day from Baylor on the ground.

Kansas State goes home for their next game against Oklahoma State, who had an upset loss over the weekend.
