Texas Tech had one of the two bye weeks from the Big 12 in Week 6. This was seven days after their near upset of West Virginia, 42-34. It saw quarterback Alan Bowman go down with an injury and two receivers top 100 yards.

Nothing changed around this part of the power rankings, so the Red Raiders keep their No. 6 spot for another week. That’s despite Baylor’s close win over Kansas State and a surprise loss for another team higher up.

The next opponent will be TCU, who also sits at 3-2. This game may create separation in the middle of the pack.

Like Texas Tech, TCU did not play in Week 6 and won’t return until their matchup on Saturday, Oct. 13. It takes place at home.

The Horned Frogs faced challenges in consecutive weeks, due to Ohio State and Texas in their crosshairs. Both provided losses and sent head coach Gary Patterson’s squad in a downward spiral.

However, a rebound win over Iowa State put TCU in a better direction, entering the bye week. They need another win to avoid an even .500 record, and it will be difficult to keep up with the Red Raiders’ high-octane offense. Can they find an opening in the Big 12 and rise to the occasion?
