Welcome reader of FantasyCPR! Showdown slates have been extremely profitable for us so far this year. Thursday’s Night Football game added to the our profitability. Thursday Night Football’s  cash lineup hit double up very easily and we are back for this Monday Night Football slate!

Captain: Nyheim Hines

Flex: Tom Brady

Flex: Andrew Luck

Flex: Sony Michel

Flex: Eric Ebron

Flex: Zach Pascal

This cash game lineup was good enough for 138.84 fantasy points, which was good enough to win 80% of my head-to-head games and easily hit the double up cash lines.

Hopefully, Monday Night Football will produce similar results as our competitors scramble to figure out the Saints backfield with Mark Ingram coming back into the fold. Monday Night Football’s matchup is between the Washington Redskins and the New Orleans Saints with a game total of 53. The Saints are 6-point favorites in this showdown.

So who’s our captain play on this slate?

Monday Night Football Captain Picks:

Michael Thomas, NO ($17,100)

Thomas is my favorite play on this slate. Washington’s secondary definitely does not scare me and this game total screams Michael Thomas eruption day. Coming off his worst game this season he was on the road and now he is headed back to New Orleans in a shootout. Last week was the Saints first game outside of a dome this season and Thomas didn’t see the targets. I expect him to get back up over double-digit targets at home on Monday Night Football.  Thomas has caught a ridiculous 95% of his 44-targets through the first four weeks of the season. That number is going to see some regression but in our cash games, Thomas has a really safe floor.

Other options to consider: Tre’Quan Smith (I’m not doing it in cash but people will), Jamison Crowder (Salary-Relief Option)

Tournaments:

Drew Brees, NO ($16,800)

This is a spot where Brees does possess 40-plus point upside at the quarterback position. Brees is at home, loves to spread the ball around, and even has the occasional rushing touchdown upside. There is a scenario where I could see Brees being the highest scoring player on the slate. Washington hasn’t been taken advantage of like that yet this season, however, Brees is in an elite spot and I want some shares of this Brees in the captain spot on Monday Night Football.

Other Options: Alvin Kamara/ Chris Thompson/ Jordan Reed/ Adrian Peterson

Monday Night Football Cash Game Plays:

This game is extremely difficult for cash games as DraftKings has made it where you can’t just play everyone. You’re going to have to make some very difficult decisions on who to play and who to fade on this slate. Remember, you’re responsible for your own lineups, build them however you would like. These are suggestions that I believe will put you in a better position to win your cash games this week.

Tre’Quan Smith ($1,400), NO

Ted Ginn Jr. has already been ruled out for this game, and the Saints need to replace his playing time with somebody. I think it’s going to be Tre’Quan Smith. Smith is not guaranteed anything, however with his snap count rising, he should be able to give us something at $1,400 and that’s all we can ask of a guy at this price. Each week, Smith’s snap count has risen; from 11 snaps in Week 1, to 22 snaps in Week 2 and then he got 26 snaps in Week 3. I like Tre’Quan this week, he’s an explosive player-maker who is probably going to be on the field for close to half of the Saints offensive snaps which would nearly double his snap count.

Alvin Kamara ($12,400), NO

Mark Ingram has been reinstated to the team and is expected to play this week coming of his four-game suspension.  Karmara has been special the first four weeks of the season and I expect it to continue even with Ingram back in the fold. Kamara’s production isn’t tied to volume, in fact, Kamara has yet to see 20-plus carries in a game yet this year. That’s the good news with Kamara, he’s the pass catcher on this offense and between him and Ingram, their the best one-two punch in the NFL. Kamara’s likely going to still see 20-touches on a weekly bases. I will have Kamara as a captain in some tournaments, but fair warning, it’s extremely difficult to fit.

Monday Night Football Tournament Plays:

Chris Thompson, WAS ($8,400)

So I just can’t get there in cash games, but in tournaments I am willing to fire up Thompson in a spot that Washington can count on trailing in. Peterson likely sees the early work in this game, however with Washington being 6-point underdogs on the road, I think this is a spot we can leverage Chris Thompson. Alex Smith is the check down king! I expect Thompson to catch 8 passes in this game. This play could go either way, if Washington gets ahead, could be all over for Thompson’s fantasy value this week. That is a big reason why he is a tournament only play for me.

Adrian Peterson, WAS ($7,200)

This is another game theory play, in daily fantasy sports we have to zig when others zag. That’s the most important thing in a tournament format but I am fine with playing both of these backs in the same lineup, but I am also fine with playing Peterson by himself. Peterson had a short stint with the Saints last year and it did not go well. Washington is going to attempt to slow the pace of this game and keep Drew Brees on the sidelines. If they’re successful, Adrian Peterson is viable in tournaments as he has two touchdown upside. If you’re playing multiple lineups, I would make sure to get Peterson into a lineup as some will overlook him trusting the vegas line. I believe in the vegas line, however, I’m going to have some Peterson lineups.
