2. Philadelphia Eagles

The defending Super Bowl champions have clearly lost something through five games. Carson Wentz appears to still be shaking off some rust three games in post-torn ACL, and the offensive line has been sub-par thus far. Injuries have thinned the running back rotation too.

After Sunday’s loss to the Vikings, left tackle Jason Peters chalked up the line’s struggles to a re-adjustment to blocking for Wentz.

"Right now we’re struggling on the offensive line because we have to block longer,” Peters said. “We have a quarterback that’s coming off of an injury and he wants to make a play. We just have to block longer in order for him to make a play. We just have to be better in pass protection."

The Eagles have lost to the Titans and Vikings by a combined total of five points over the last two games, with a few critical mistakes tilting the margin between a win and a loss in each contest. But they don’t have time to dwell, with a short turnaround this week ahead of a Thursday night game against the Giants.

A loss to the Giants on a short week could set the Eagles up for a long losing streak, with the Panthers, Jaguars, Cowboys and Saints following that on the schedule. So 2-3 right now could become 4-6 or 3-7 before Thanksgiving, and take any chance for a repeat right down with it.

The Eagles overachieved last year, and they could be experiencing a Super Bowl hangover right now. But if they can’t get right soon, and navigate a tough-looking stretch of games, they may be No. 1 on lists like this in another five weeks.
