player. 45. . Quarterback. Missouri. Drew Lock. 14

The Denver Broncos had to head East on a short week in Week 5, and it showed, as they were beaten pretty badly by the New York Jets. The Broncos just could not get anything going on offense early against a Jets defense that was playing without star cornerback Trumaine Johnson, and that has to be alarming for Broncos fans.

Case Keenum was brought in to bring stability to the quarterback position, and while he has had his moments, he is not the future at the position in Denver. That means John Elway is going to have to use another first round pick on a quarterback in 2019, and after what happened the last time, see Paxton Lynch, he better get this one right.

When it comes to the quarterback class in 2019, it is not as loaded as it was in 2018, when guys like Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, and Josh Rosen all went early in round one. However, there are some solid signal-callers to be had, and Drew Lock from Missouri is definitely one of them.

Lock would be a nice fit in Denver, as he loves to take shots downfield, and the Broncos have some playmakers in guys like Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, and rookie Courtland Sutton. Keenum is an improvement over what the Broncos have trotted out at the position in recent years since Peyton Manning retired, but Lock may be too good to pass up on, especially in the middle of round one.
