NBA Season Preview 2018-19: Mavericks are balanced with youth and experience
By Ynal Al-Ouri

Shooting Guard
Starter: Wesley Matthews
Depth: Ryan Broekhoff
Wesley Matthews will return to the Mavericks to finish off the four-year deal he signed after the 2014 season. Matthews has battled a few injuries the last couple of seasons, but he can still knock down treys from beyond the arc when called upon. He has knocked down 2.4 3-pointers per game in each of the last three seasons and has shot at least 36 percent from beyond the arc over that time span as well. Matthews will also be counted on to mentor the younger players on the Mavericks, which is vital for a team trying to incorporate younger players.
Dallas will almost certainly be using two point guard lineups at times, but Ryan Broekhoff is the other shooting guard currently listed on their roster. Broekhoff is an intriguing player that caught the Mavericks attention with his play in the Euro Cup, and he also had a standout career at Valpariso. He may not play much and will spend a lot of time developing in the G-League as he is on a two-way contract.
