Tight Ends

Eric Ebron, Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets – $5400

The state of the tight end position in fantasy can be summed up by these five names. With no Travis Kelce, Rob Gronkowski, or Zach Ertz it is Eric Ebron that tops the pricing list for tight ends this week. Ebron is having a break out season as Andrew Luck’s primary red zone target. This week he gets a Jets defense that is ranked as the toughest defense against opposing tight ends. Safety duo Jamaal Adams and Marcus Maye will have their attention on Ebron, especially as the field shrinks. This may be the time to fade the promising tight end.

Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins vs Carolina Panthers – $5200

Finally healthy for more than a few weeks, Jordan Reed comes in at second in the pricing. Reed is having a sub-par season for his standards when healthy. He will look to rebound this week and form a better connection with his new quarterback against Carolina. The Panthers rank tenth in points allowed to tight ends. Keep an eye on the weather here with hurricane season capable of dumping rain on this game and throwing off any expected outcomes in the passing game.

Jared Cook, Oakland Raiders vs Seattle Seahawks – $5000

One of the most consistent fantasy tight ends this season has been Oakland’s Jared Cook. He has formed a nice connection with Derrick Carr and opened up the middle of the field for the Raiders. This week he gets a Seahawks team without Earl Thomas. This could be another big week for Cook at a reasonably priced $5000.

Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets – $4600

Carrying a doubtful tag of Wednesday, there is little chance we see Jack Doyle take the field Sunday. That being said, it’s a tough matchup with the Jets. As previously mentioned with the Colts other tight end, New York has erased tight ends for most of the season. Keep an eye on the injury report but it is best to look elsewhere than Doyle this week.

Trey Burton, Chicago Bears @ Miami Dolphins – $4500

A trendy sleeper pick coming into this season was Trey Burton who was expected to play the Travis Kelce role in Matt Nagy’s offense. It’s been an up and down start for Burton. The Bears are looking to build off the momentum they took into last weeks’ bye. The offensive explosion against the Buccaneers will not happen every week. This week Burton gets a tough matchup against a Dolphins defense that has yet to allow a touchdown pass to a tight end.

Value Tight Ends

Austin Hooper, Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $3500

Tight end is always the toughest place to find value. The matchup for Austin Hooper against the Buccaneers screams value though. Hooper is not even the fourth option in the passing game for Atlanta. It would be a stretch but no team has allowed more points to tight ends than Tampa Bay. Hooper has talent and could benefit from the receivers added attention this week at home.

C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals vs Pittsburgh Steelers – $3000

With Tyler Eifter on injured reserve and fellow tight end Tyler Kroft being injured in Week 5, C.J. Uzomah is the best option on the Bengals roster. There may not be enough targets to go around but if this game becomes a shoot out, Uzomah has a chance to score. Pittsburgh is one of the worst defenses against the tight end in the NFL. Uzomah is a long shot, like Hooper but so is most of the tight end position.
