With five weeks in the books, fantasy football owners are trying to make improvements now for the playoffs. Here are three players to buy low on.

The fantasy football waiver wire talent pool is getting more shallow by the week. With injuries, bye weeks and consistently bad performances, owners are trying to find this year’s Juju Smith-Schuster. Unless a player steps out from the shadows, the odds of that happening again is very unlikely. The next option is to turn to your league-mates and make a trade.

There are likely an owner or two in your league looking to dump a high-profile player just because they had a bad week. This is a good way for you to had a top talent while not giving up much in return. There are plenty of owners that don’t look at the long-term picture when looking at their roster.

There are a lot of names that could fit into this list but here are the top three that you could buy low on now and reap the benefits for the rest of the season.

Alvin Kamara, NO

If you are not the Kamara owner in your league, you should be. His owners were probably panicking on Monday night when he received just nine touches last week compared to his average of 23 per game.

This had to do a lot with the return of Mark Ingram. Owners knew Kamara’s production wouldn’t be as high as it was but no one thought it would drop that low. The New Orleans Saints got Tre’Quan Smith involved, leading to two big touchdowns.

Kamara is still a threat in both the running and passing game. If an owner is afraid of another game like Monday, dump a top-20 running back for him and don’t look back.

Allen Robinson, CHI

The Chicago Bears offense looked good during Mitchell Trubisky’s six-touchdown game. However, Robinson didn’t factor much into that game. He had two catches for 23 yards and a score.

Robinson is currently the No. 52 ranked wide receiver in PPR leagues, behind Phillip Dorsett and Jakeem Grant.

The Bears are coming off their bye week and play a tough Miami defense. After that, they play the rest of the AFC East, all favorable matchups. Robinson should get back on track and be the top wide receiver he was paid to be.

Evan Engram, NYG

The New York Giants offense as a whole has been stagnant this season. They rank 23rd in points scored, 17th in passing yards per game and 21st in passing touchdowns. While the connection between Eli Manning and Odell Beckham could be the cause of most of it, the loss of Engram over these past couple of weeks hurts as well.

Engram hasn’t played since Week 3 and was already ruled out for the Week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants won’t play again until Oct. 22 against the Atlanta Falcons. That’ll give Engram an extra 11 days to rehab and get back to 100 percent.

Engram owners likely added a backup tight end once the injury was announced. With likely no need for a second tight end, you should be able to snag Engram from that owner for little cost. The  Giants have a nice schedule coming up, too.

These three players have disappointed owners this season, some more than others. If you can make an attractive deal to their owners while not giving up the core of your team, you’re on the path to success. Make sure to pull the trigger now before it’s too late.
