NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Thursday October 11th
We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for tonights exciting 12-game slate.
Each post will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.
Some quick notes from yesterday’s action. Washington is still king in the Stanley Cup Championship rematch after dominating the Knights 5-2. Brady Tkachuk enjoyed his first career goal, and his second! Voracek and the Flyers took out their anger on Ottawa a night after losing 8-2. Voracek finished with five points to beat the Senators 7-4. The Coyotes shock the Ducks 3-2 in overtime as the biggest underdog of the night.
Below is a recap of last nights DraftKings Snipes action that we talked about.
Oct. 10
Evgeny Kuznetsov – One goal and 3 assists
Nolan Patrick – Left early after taking a stick to the face
Alex Ovechkin – 2 goals on 7 shots
Brady Tkachuk – 2 goals and an assist with 6 shots on goal
Brett Connolly – 2 assists
Max Comtois – Point streak ends as he’s held with no points. Just 2 shots on goal and 2 blocks
Thomas Chabot – An assist and 22 minutes of ice
Shea Theodore – Quiet night for Theodore in the loss
John Gibson – 37 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss
Braden Holtby -29 saves and the W
Favorite stacks for tonight: Penguins, Lightning, Leafs, Wild
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Centers
Auston Matthews Leafs ($8,100)
Matthews will be chalky, but it is really hard to avoid him with the streak he is on. On a huge 12-game slate though, you might be able to afford a fade with caution. If you are playing Matthews tonight, make sure you pair him with his right-winger who we will discuss on the next page. As a one-off, there will likely be too much exposure on Matthews to help you in a tournament. DraftKings is showing Matthews and Tavares love by making them the two most expensive centers on the list.
Steven Stamkos Lightning ($6,400)
With the Leafs and Capitals playing on the same night, a Tampa Bay stack may end up being the play tonight. According to VegasInsider, the Lightning are -270 favorites over the Canucks and fresh. They have only played one game thus far and will look to pour it on at home against the 1-2 Canucks. Stammer had his first healthy season since 2015 last year. He played in 78 games and was responsible for 86 points and 212 shots. He averaged north of 18 minutes of ice each game last season. In Tampa’s first game of the young season, he saw nearly 20 minutes. The possession metrics are in his favor as well with a CF% of 53.2 and a FF% of 52.1. Look for the Stamkos line to dominate the puck once again in this match up, while also getting major exposure on the power play.
Jonathan Toews Blackhawks ($6,800)
OK, this feels a bit strange. Toews is a great captain, but a fantasy option? No way right? The Blackhawks offense is firing on all cylinders, and Toews looks back to normal. At least for now with the hot start. He has five goals and an assist in just three games. He’s leading a new-look line with sniper Alex DeBrincat and rookie Dominik Kahun. Toews looks strong so far and cleaning up around the net. As many coaches will say, if you want to score more goals, go to the net!
Others to consider: Eric Staal ($5,200), Ryan O’Reilly ($5,600)
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wingers
Nikita Kucherov Lightning ($7,500)
Some may consider it crazy to fade the Leafs. But that is the advantage of Tampa only playing one game on the season compared to the four that Toronto has played. How soon we forget that Kucherov finished third in the NHL in points with 100 on 39 goals and 61 assists. Vancouver simply does not have the fire power to match up against this first line. If you are going to play Kuch, you might want to add in his linemate Ondrej Palat ($4,500). According to the RotoWire Staff on CBS Fantasy, Palat will join Kucherov and Stamkos on the top line.
Jake Guentzel Penguins ($5,800)
Crosby will be another popular play tonight, so why not get a piece of his left winger Jake Guentzel. He finished off last season in spectacular fashion with 21 points in 12 playoff games. They will match-up against Malcolm Subban at home as the Knights back-up gets the nod in the second night of a back-to-back. Could spell trouble for Vegas and dollar, dollar bills for the Pens. His possession numbers are off the charts in their first two games with a CF% of 66.2 and a FF% of 58.7.
Mitch Marner Leafs ($7,200)
Marner offers you slightly less FPPG as Tavares and Matthews, but may fit better into a line-up. It is hard to play at a 9.4 and 7.8 FPPG pace that the two centers are currently providing. Marner is right in the mix though at 6.4. The top line in Toronto should be nicknamed the Hansel line, because that Hansel is so hot these days. Detroit will not play the role of Mugatu tonight, as no one can stop this team. Alright, alright enough of the Zoolander jokes. Marner has two goals and six assists in just four games.
Others to consider: David Pastrnak ($7,400), Evander Kane ($6,900), Jason Zucker ($5,000)
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalies
Vince Dunn Blues ($3,500)
Dunn is not one of the sexier plays tonight but could be a tremendous value for the price. He’s been given the opportunity to skate on the first PP unit, which means sharing the ice with sniper Vlad Tarasenko. In the Blues first two games, Dunn has a oSZ% of 64.7. Last year was similar finishing the season at 60.8%. On top of that, his CF% and FF% were both 54+. At $3,500 you may be able to steal some points while filling your roster with higher level talent elsewhere.
Mathew Dumba Wild ($6,300)
Until Corey Crawford returns, you should feel comfortable picking against the Blackhawks. Maybe not to win the game, but to put up points. They have given up 14 goals in just three games. Dumba plays on the first PP line alongside Ryan Suter and has been given heavy minutes. Look for that to continue tonight while the Wild look for their first win of the season at home.
Victor Hedman Lightning ($5,900)
Not enough love for Hedman on DraftKings yet, which plays nice for DFS. That price looks great for a guy that has put up 72 and 63 points in the last two seasons. Look for him to be on the blue-line with the first PP team, as last season he had two goals and 24 assists with the man advantage. The Norris Trophy Award winner and All-Star had career highs in goals, shots on goal, time on ice, and +/-.
Others to consider: Charlie McAvoy ($5,100), Henry Jokiharju ($3,600)
Andrei Vasilevskiy Lightning ($8,500)
It is hard to argue rostering Vasilevskiy tonight as they are heavy favorites. Going with the most favorable match-up is one of the better strategies to anchor your team’s scoring. However, he should be chalk at the position tonight and there are a few other options to consider if you want to load up offensively.
Aaron Dell Sharks ($7,400)
Dell gets the start tonight against the on the road against the Rangers and may be a solid value play at goalie. This is the second consecutive start for Dell who is taking the place of a struggling Martin Jones. He looked great in the Sharks 8-2 routing of Philadelphia and will hope that his success carries over into tonight’s game. We all know he has one of the most talented group of defenders in front of him.
Semyon Varlamov Avalanche ($7,500)
Varlamov is one of those cheaper options who is 2-0 with a 1.50 GAA so far on the season. He was given the opportunity to rest last game and hasn’t seen action in almost a week. Varlamov should be good and rested to face-off on the road against a young Buffalo team.
Others to consider: Pheonix Copley ($7,600)
