5. Texas A&M vs. South Carolina
Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M Aggies have done a solid job of jumping out to a solid start this year. During the first season of Fisher’s campaign in College Station, the Aggies have gone toe-to-toe with a top-five ranked opponent in Clemson (and came close to beating the Tigers) while also knocking down a rather impressive Kentucky Wildcats team. Texas A&M is better than many expected.
Meanwhile, the South Carolina Gamecocks sit at 3-2 on the year. Will Muschamp’s team is looking to prove itself to the rest of the Southeastern Conference and then ultimately the country. They couldn’t do that in week two against the Georgia Bulldogs and they lost to Kentucky a couple of weeks ago.
Last week, South Carolina bounced back by beating the Missouri Tigers in a shootout in the rain. While that win isn’t as impressive as Texas A&M’s overtime victory against Kentucky, it shows that they can still compete in this conference and can overcome impressive offenses.
The Aggies, on the other hand, will be fresh off of an emotional win against the Wildcats. They’re going to need to regain their focus on this road trip. South Carolina isn’t the most imposing team on A&M’s schedule, but it’s still likely to present a challenge as the Aggies try to get to their bye week.
A&M and South Carolina will face each other in Columbia, South Carolina at 3:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
