We give all the latest on key injuries around the country in this week’s injury report.

Week seven of college football is underway and teams are looking to stay healthy at the halfway point. Unfortunately, the injury bug has bitten some teams hard this season. It is time to take a look at who is out and who is in for this week’s injury report.

Quarterbacks

Zack Annexsted, Minnesota

The Golden Gophers’ starting quarterback is dealing with an ankle injury. Fortunately he should be ready for Ohio State the game as he is listed ā€œprobableā€. If Annexsted is unable to go, Minnesota has several freshmen quarterbacks waiting in the wings.

Jake Bentley, South Carolina

Bentley suffered a grade one MCL sprain last week against Kentucky.Ā  Will Muschamp said earlier this week he will be fine for the Texas A&M game. However, this type of injury should notĀ be taken lightly. Redshirt seniors Danny Gordon or Michael Scarneccia couldĀ appearĀ on Saturday if need be.

Alex Delton, Kansas State

Delton sat out last week’s game with an undisclosed injury as Kansas State fell to Baylor. He is questionable for Oklahoma State and it looks like Skylar Thompson will get the start. Thompson won the job in camp, but with the Wildcat’s struggling on offense, they like to use both quarterbacks.

Running Backs

John Lovett, Baylor

Lovett sustained a concussion last week against Kansas State. Matt Rhule said he will be fine for the Texas game. At 4-2 Baylor has a chance at a winning season again and Lovett is emerging as one of their best offensive weapons. Having him healthy is vital moving forward.

C.J. Verdell, Oregon

Verdell suffered an MCL sprain two weeks ago against Cal. The good new for Oregon is they are coming off a bye week and Verdell has had time to heal. He should play against Washington.

Myles Gaskin, Washington

Gaskins injured his shoulder last week against UCLA. Chris Petersen was asked about his statis during his weekly presser, but said it is nothing serious. He is fine for the Oregon game.

Wide Receivers

Will Hastings, Auburn

One weapon for Auburn’s receiving corp is done for the year. This week Hastings was ruled out for the season due to having a second surgery to repair his ACL. He suffered the injury in the spring and it has not healed to the point where he can play this season. He will be redshirted and is eligible to return next season.

Jeff Thomas, Miami

Miami’s receivers continue to be banged up. Thomas hurt his knee during the Florida State game last week but is ā€œprobableā€ for Virginia game. Ahmmon RichardsĀ  and Michael Irvin II have missed time this season and the Hurricanes would hate to be down another weapon.

Jafar Armstrong, Notre Dame

Armstrong has missed the past few games due to an infected knee. The good news, according to Brian Kelly, is doctors have discovered the infection early enough that Armstrong’s career should not be in jeopardy. He is ā€œquestionableā€ but likely will not play against Pittsburgh.

Tight Ends

Foster Moreau, LSU

Moreau is dealing with a lingering knee injury and has worn a brace all season. This week it bothered him a bit more as he was limited in practice. He is ā€œquestionableā€ this week but will likely play. Thaddeus Moss got some work with the first-string this week and may replace Moreau at time if he is healthy enough to go.

Kedrick James, Alabama

James suffered a high-ankle sprain last week in the win over Arkansas. Nick Saban said this week he is out indefinitely. Expect Daniel Powell, Giles Amos or Irv Smith Jr. to fill his shoes for the time being.

Noah Fant, Iowa

Fant sustained a concussion last week. He is ā€œprobableā€ for this week against Indiana. If Fant does not feel healthy enough, expect to see Drew Cook or Nate Vejvoda.

Defensive Stars

Cornerback Trevon Diggs, Alabama

Diggs suffered a broken foot last week against Arkansas and is out indefinitely according to Saban. The junior corner already has NFL scouts talking and is regarded as one of the best in the SEC and arguably the country. While the Tide have a lot of talent on defense, losing Diggs for possibly the rest of the season could hurt their national title hopes.

Defensive End David Marshall, Georgia

Marshall missed practices this week with a foot injury. He is doubtful for the LSU game. Marshall’s absence could certainly hurt Georgia up front. Kirby Smart talks highly of Marshall playing at the next level.

Safety Trevon Flowers, Tennessee

Flowers broke his collarbone last week in practice. He reportedly had surgery and will miss a few weeks. However, a broken collarbone is not to be taken lightly. Volunteer fans should brace for him to miss the rest of the season. Expect Theo Jackson or Shawn Shamburger to start in his place against Auburn.
