No. 4 Chris Godwin vs Atlanta

Chris Godwin is going to be important if the Bucs want to beat Atlanta. Plain and simple. He’s above Humphries here because of how well he fits in that Tampa Bay offense.

Godwin was off to a really solid start to the campaign which suffered a bit of a setback against the Bears but he’s a flex play I really like in this matchup. We can talk all day about the Falcons secondary, truly we can. For now let’s just talk about Godwin. Before having just a pair of catches against the Bears, Godwin had a touchdown in each of the first three games for Tampa Bay.

15 catches for 193 yards and a trio of touchdowns sounds minimal but it give a lot of space for Desean Jackson and Mike Evans. It’s a big help. Against Philadelphia and PIttsburgh, Godwin was most lethal with five catches in each game to go with 50+ yards receiving and a touchdown.

One area I’d want to see Godwin be more effective is in the 2nd half. In the 1st half through the first four games Godwin has 8 catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Now that may be inhibited by the blowout before the bye but I expect to see Godwin get more 2nd half targets this week against that Atlanta secondary. Believe that.
