NFL DFS: Week 6 FanDuel Cash Plays (1PM Only)
Got your main slate NFL DFS lineups all set and looking for a good reason to avoid tinkering with them? Make some more lineups on some smaller slates!! This article will focus on the top cash game plays for the 1PM only slate on Fanduel.
Welcome to the week 6 edition of NFL DFS Fanduel Cash Plays for the early slate from FantasyCPR. This piece will give us a solid look at how to attack our cash games for the nine-game, 1PM only slate on Fanduel. For the newbies, cash games are simply the games in the lobby that are 50/50 or close to that to win. These are basically all of the games other than the tournaments and guaranteed prize pool tournaments (GPP’s). Head-to-Head’s (H2H), 50/50, and double-ups would best summarize cash games.
Let’s continue by saying this, if you don’t like chalk, these slates are not for you. This article highlights who the top options are, and whether they are popular plays or not is not any of my concern. I am just trying to give you a good starting point and a few plays to build around. With that said, let’s move along to see how week 5 was to me.
Week 5 Recap:
I am big fan of transparency, and I will be the first to admit I do not always get them right. But I think if you appreciate the conclusions I come to by you doing further research yourself, then I know you will be back for another read. Again, I am always here to help so reach out to me on Twitter, and that sample lineup is just a SAMPLE cash lineup. Regardless, I will play it every week, and we will track it right here!
QB – Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers – $8,400
RB – James Conner – Pittsburgh Steelers – $7,800
RB – Saquon Barkley – New York Giants – $7,900
WR – Antonio Brown – Pittsburgh Steelers – $9,000
WR – Tyler Boyd – Cincinnati Bengals – $6,300
WR – Dede Westbrook – Jacksonville Jaguars – $5,900
TE – Vance McDonald – Pittsburgh Steelers – $4,600
FLEX – Aaron Jones – Green Bay Packers – $6,100
DEF – Tennessee Titans – $3,900
Above is last week’s sample lineup. This lineup had some serious chalk in it, with Boyd and Big Ben having over 50% ownership in 100-man 50/50’s. The big chalk bust was Vance McDonald, who was 70-85% owned in cash games, and only caught one pass for six yards. This lineup finished anywhere between 30th and 40th for me in my 50/50’s, and also was able to score minimum cashes in GPP’s. It scored 135.5 FDP, highlighted by Conner and Barkley, who were both at least under 50%. To read about why I picked these guys last week, just like I am about to make my picks this week, click here.
NFL DFS: Week 6 FanDuel Cash Plays (1PM Only)
QB – Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – $7,500
I actually think this play will be far from chalky, because Dalton has not fared well in his career against the Steelers. However, with this game being in Cincy, and the Bengals just being a better team this year than they have been, it is easy to like this offense against this Pittsburgh defense. Dalton has not beaten the Steelers since a 16-10 home victory in 2015, and he has never thrown for more than two touchdowns in a game in his entire career against them. Another stat that looks daunting for Dalton, if you believe in these kind of things, is that throughout his career against the Steelers which has spanned 14 games, he only has two games with 300+ passing yards. All signs point to a typical Andy Dalton 200 yard, two TD game, but I will say he breaks the 300, and throws three. The over/under on this game is over 50 for a reason, and I expect a ton of points in this one.
***Also consider – Deshaun Watson – $8,100***
RB – Melvin Gordon III – Los Angeles Chargers – $8,800
On this slate, it shaping up that Gordon will be the top projected play, as his Chargers will travel to Cleveland to face the Browns. The Browns have historically been pretty good against the run, but that has not been the case this year. What is especially important to me in this spot is that they have been giving up yards to mediocre at best running backs.
Last week, the Ravens combo of Buck Allen and Alex Collins came up just short of 100 yards on 20 carries combined, but it was two weeks ago that they may have been exposed. Veteran Marshawn Lynch ran all over the Browns in the week 4 shoot-out with the Raiders, grinding out 130 yards on 20 carries. If Lynch can do that I am excited to see what Gordon will do. He is off to the best start of his career, with six total touchdowns and over 500 rushing and receiving yards combined through five games.
RB – Christian McCaffrey – Carolina Panthers – $8,400
No matter what the Carolina offensive game plan looks like, McCaffrey is a huge part of it. He showed off how dangerous he is catching passes week two at Atlanta, where he caught 14 passes for 102 yards. What solidified him as a threat every week however, was the follow-up performance at home against the Bengals, where he carried the ball 28 times for 184 yards.
It will be interesting to see how the Panthers attack the Redskins this weekend, after the Saints pretty much did whatever they wanted to them last week. Like Gordon, McCaffrey is also over 500 combined rushing and receiving yards, he does just have one touchdown however. Unless he breaks one, he will likely cede carries to Cam Newton at the goal-line. Still, he is averaging right around 20 FDP over the last three, and is a lock for cash games for this slate.
***Also consider (or flex) – Joe Mixon – $7,500***

WR – Calvin Ridley – Atlanta Falcons – $6,700
While everyone is out there saying to stick with Julio Jones, the touchdowns are coming, I can tell you flat-out you will never hear that here. I am team #NeverJulio, and when he has his big game I will be happy for all of you. I haven’t rostered him in DFS or season long since 2016, and my way is working just fine. Of course I want a piece of this offense in a game with an over/under of 57, and it certainly will not come from any running backs here. I think Ridley’s price is still fair at sub $7K, and he should bounce back from his dud last week and put up big numbers against this Tampa Bay defense.
WR – Tyler Boyd – Cincinnati Bengals – $6,300
I would love to be able to pay up for A.J. Green in cash, but McCaffrey and Gordon project out just a bit better, so the correct pivot here is Boyd. He was chalky a bit last week at this same price point (30+%), and much like Ridley, also put up a dud, catching just four passes for 44 yards. I don’t think the bad game last week will bring his ownership down much here, and he should also have a bounce back game in this one. Boyd currently stands 15th in the league with 30 receptions, and has 393 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is quietly breaking out, and is another guy I will be playing a bunch until his salary increases a bit.
WR – Doug Baldwin – Seattle Seahawks – $6,200
Pretty quiet year thus far for Baldwin and much of the Seahawks offense up to this point in the season. Baldwin had just one target last week, and made a catch for one yard against the vaunted Rams defense. This week, Seattle travels in to Oakland, and after the slight emergence of Tyler Lockett as the number one guy in this WR corps, I think Baldwin finally has his break-out game of the 2018 campaign.
I’m not talking anything huge here, but a stat line of about 5-65-1 would be worth this price tag. If he ever gets back to the form he has shown in the past, this salary is quite the bargain, as he will likely get a salary bump every week if he does anything at all. Lockett showed he can beat a defense and they need to keep a safety on him, that should open things up for Baldwin.
***Also consider: A.J Green $8,800, Adam Thielen $8,600, Mike Evans $8,000***
TE – Cameron Brate – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $4,500
I tweeted it a few days ago, but wow Brate looks a lot like Vance McDonald here last week. However, Brate will get targeted more with OJ Howard out, and he is actually a proven scorer, with 19 career touchdowns. What I really meant, is that Brate is like McDonald in the sense he is going to be uber chalk in cash games this week. Especially on this 1PM only slate we are focusing on here. While paying up for Jared Cook or David Njoku is appealing, I will save that for GPP’s
***Also Consider: David Njoku $5,500***

DEF – Carolina Panthers – $3,900
Instead of paying up here at the ever important defense position, I see value and likely chalk in Washington, where the Panthers will face the slumping Redskins. While the Panthers D has three games scoring in double-digit FDP out for four this season, they have all come at home. Again, this game will be on the road, and in Carolina’s lone road game this year the defense only managed 1 FDP in Atlanta against the Falcons. While that scares me a little bit, this defense has looked really good in back-to-back games against Cincinnati and the Giants. If I pay up at all it is hard to pass on the Bears at $4,500, but I need to pay for those running backs, and I like the possible value here.
