36. Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

  • Height: 6’2″
  • Weight: 215
  • Class: Redshirt Sophomore

Not many were talking about Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins coming into the season, mostly because there wasn’t much film on him. Even still, as a redshirt sophomore, it’s very possible he doesn’t declare for the 2019 NFL Draft and stays at school longer. However, his start to the 2018 season cannot be overlooked. He’s completed 71 percent of his passes so far and has 25 touchdowns to just four interceptions in 2018. He has very good poise in the pocket, and possesses a quick release, getting the ball out on time and accurately.

He also shows spectacular touch down the field. Despite all the good with Haskins, many will point to his game against Penn State, where he was rattled by the blitz and had trouble moving around the pocket. He did find some traction late in the game, but some will still look at that game as a benchmark. Haskins certainly has a chance to rise even higher though.

35. David Montgomery, RB, Iowa State

  • Height: 5’11”
  • Weight: 225
  • Class: Junior

David Montgomery takes a bit of a step back on the board, and stays at running back two, even with Rodney Anderson off the board. Last season put him on the map for many, as he accumulated over 1100 yards and 11 touchdowns. This season has been a bit of a slower start for Montgomery. Through four games (he missed last week’s game), he has 334 yards on 82 carries and three touchdowns.

His 4.1 yards per carry is his lowest in his career at Iowa State, but plenty of that can be attributed to defenses keying in on him and overloading the box. However, it looks like Iowa State has found their quarterback for the season, and maybe that will create more balance. Montgomery is still a bowling ball in space with plenty of moves, vision, and quickness.
