Stick’s Picks – NFL FantasyDraft Week 6 GPP Targets (Main Slate)

After another successful weekend of GPP cashing in Week 5, let’s get right back into it in what should be a very exciting Week 6. There are a lot of high scoring games on the slate, so we will have plenty of players to target for GPP’s on the NFL FantasyDraft Week 6 main slate.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter @sticks022 and @FantasyCPR for more fantasy football information. Thank you for reading and best of luck this week!

NFL FantasyDraft GPP Quarterbacks:

Obviously, the general public in the DFS community are going to flock to stacking up these 3, high-total games (all totals courtesy of TeamRankings.com):

  1. Tampa Bay @ Atlanta (57.5 point total)
  2. Kansas City @ New England (60 point total)
  3. Pittsburgh @ Cincinatti (51 point total)

Although they will be highly-owned, all of the quarterbacks in the match-ups above are great plays for both cash games and GPP’s in DFS this week. Personally, I am going to be avoiding most of them as I feel there are plenty of other value quarterbacks in solid match-ups that may go overlooked.

If you are set on playing one of the QB’s in those 3 games above, I’d rank them in terms of value like so:

  1. Matt Ryan ($12,700)
  2. Jameis Winston ($11,000) – will be the #1 owned QB in DFS this week so i’ll be fading him.
  3. Patrick Mahomes ($13,600)
  4. Tom Brady ($13,500)
  5. Ben Roethlisberger ($12,600)
  6. Andy Dalton ($12,000) – I don’t see a lot of upside here, will be a fade for me.

Again, I cannot tell you to avoid the QB’s in those expected shootouts above, but here are my lower-owned, GPP pivots at the quarterback position:

Jared Goff ($12,500)

The Rams offense continues to fire at all cylinders and score 33+ points every single week. The Rams have a nice implied total of 29.2 points in this road matchup against a Broncos’ defense who has struggled all year long.

It appears that Cooper Kupp and Brandin Cooks are both going to be in the lineup this Sunday after suffering concussions in that game against Seattle in Week 5, so Goff will have all of his weapons once again in Week 6. He is my favorite GPP quarterback on the slate.

Russell Wilson ($11,200)

Russell Wilson will be traveling to England to play the Oakland Raiders on Sunday in what should be another high scoring affair. The total for this game is currently listed at 48.5 points, and the Seahawks have a solid implied total of 25.5 points.

If you take a look at Wilson’s fantasy production so far this season, you’re not going to be impressed (he is only averaging 16.7 points per game on FantasyDraft). The Seahawks offensive line is awful, and they’ve started the year against some very good pass rushing defenses (Chicago, Dallas, Arizona, and the Los Angeles Rams). This has clearly led to some very stressful games for Wilson and the Seahawks offense.

This week, things are going to change. The Raiders are terrible at pressuring the quarterback and they rank dead last in sacks with just 6 on the year. Russell should have no problem putting up huge numbers this week in what should be a breakout game (with low-ownership).

Wilson is simply too cheap to avoid if you’re looking to pay up for high-priced running backs and wide receivers.

Honorable Mention

DeShaun Watson ($12,000)

Andrew Luck ($11,700)

Baker Mayfield ($10,900)

NFL FantasyDraft GPP Running Backs:

Todd Gurley ($18,900)

Gurley is yet again in another plus match-up on Sunday against a Broncos’ defense that just gave up 330 all-purpose yards to Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell. Gurley is extremely expensive, but he continues to put up top-tier numbers in all fantasy formats. He is without a doubt my #1 play on the slate this week.

Melvin Gordon ($15,400)

Gordon appears to be the only consistent producer in the Chargers’ offense so far in 2018. He is averaging 26.7 FantasyDraft points per game and should continue to produce at an elite level in this matchup against Cleveland.

It will probably be next to impossible roster both Gurley and Melvin, so if you’re looking to save salary at RB1, Gordon is the play.

Christian McCaffrey ($15,500)

If you’re a consistent reader of my GPP articles, you know I absolutely love rostering Christian McCaffrey. It’s hard not too. McCaffrey is getting a ton of touches in the Panthers’ offense and he is averaging almost 7 targets a game in the passing attack.

The Redskins’ defense was non-existent in their last game against the Saints, and also ranks third to last in opponent’s rushing touchdowns per game at 1.2. The Redskins don’t allow a ton of damage to opposing running backs through the air, but McCaffrey’s involvement in the Panthers’ offense is enough for me to feel confident in rostering him again in Week 6.

In what should be one of the weeks where McCaffrey is lower-owned, he is a great play for both cash games and GPP’s. I’m projecting him for 125 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.

James Conner ($14,600)

Conner is coming off a monster fantasy performance in Week 5 where he tallied 37.5 FantasyDraft points against the Falcons. Why not ride the hot hand? The Cincinnati Bengals rank 23rd in fantasy points per game to opposing running backs and also allow an average of 6.8 receptions per game to their opponents’ backfield.

This Steelers vs. Bengals matchup is going to be a high scoring one, and I’m anticipating most of the ownership to be on the quarterbacks and wide receivers. This should be an excellent spot to roster Conner in a GPP.

Sony Michel ($11,300)

Michel is clearly the #1 back in New England in regards to handling early-down work, and he has done an excellent job in that role thus far (20.2 points in Week 4 and 18 points in Week 5). The Chiefs rank dead last against opposing running backs for fantasy purposes and the Patriots have a ridiculous 31.8 implied total… there will plenty of opportunities for Michel to put up points.

At a very affordable price in a game with a 60 point total, Sony Michel will be locked into 75% of my FantasyDraft GPP lineups. I have him projected for 115 all-purpose yards and a touchdown (maybe two). He is my #1 value play at the running back position.

Honorable Mention

Ezekiel Elliot ($13,300)

Kareem Hunt ($12,600)

Jordan Howard ($12,300)

Tevin Coleman ($10,100)

Bilal Powell ($8,800)

Ito Smith ($6,000)

NFL FantasyDraft GPP Wide Receivers:

Similar to the situation at quarterback, all of the wide receivers in those 3 key match-ups are going to make for great plays. You’re going to want to get exposure to many of them in order to keep up with your DFS opponents. I’d rank them in this order:

  1. Julio Jones ($14,900) – incredible career numbers vs. Tampa Bay. Due for a monster game.
  2. Antonio Brown ($16,300)
  3. Mike Evans ($15,300)
  4. Julian Edelman ($12,300) – people will be off of Edelman in this slate. Love his price.
  5. JuJu Smith-Schuster ($14,900)
  6. A.J. Green ($14,300)
  7. Tyler Boyd ($11,300) – best matchup on the field assuming Joe Haden shadows Green
  8. Tyreek Hill ($14,200)
  9. Calvin Ridley ($11,600) – best matchup on the field in this game. Lock him in.
  10. Sammy Watkins ($8,500)
  11. DeSean Jackson ($11,000)
  12. Josh Gordon ($12,100)

This is a great week to run out multiple lineups/combinations as there are just too many great plays at the wide receiver position. If you’re looking to get some low-ownership wide receiver exposure, here are the guys that I am targeting:

Adam Thielen ($15,600)

Thielen has opened the year on an incredible pace with 5 straight games of 100+ receiving yards. He is averaging 27.8 FantasyDraft points per week and should just be locked into lineups at this point.

Thielen will have a very nice matchup in the slot against the Cardinals and should have no issue racking up 100+ yards receiving yet again in Week 6. He is the safest play in fantasy football so far this season and will be rather low-owned this week (as many DFS players overlook him to get exposure in those games with high totals).

Jarvis Landry ($12,300)

Landry is a target monster for the Cleveland Browns and that is what you want to look for in a full-point PPR setup like FantasyDraft’s. The Chargers have had issues defending the pass, especially with slot receivers, so that should bode well for Landry.

I have him projected for 8+ catches and 90+ receiving yards. If he can find a way into the end-zone, Landry is going to have a huge fantasy performance in Week 6.

Chester Rogers ($8,800)

It looks like T.Y. Hilton is ruled out for Sunday’s matchup against the Jets, which will leave Andrew Luck with very few options outside of Eric Ebron in the passing game. This should lead to another high-volume game for Chester Rogers.

Rogers is coming off of back-to-back 11 target games where he scored 14.6 and 18.5 FantasyDraft points respectively. Assuming you’re loading up on high price receivers and running backs, Rogers offers a significant amount of salary relief. He is my #1 value play at the wide receiver position.

Honorable Mention

DeAndre Hopkins ($14,600)

Robert Woods ($13,300)

Brandin Cooks ($12,900)

Doug Baldwin ($10,500)

John Brown ($10,400)

Tyler Lockett ($10,100)

NFL FantasyDraft GPP Tight Ends:

Travis Kelce ($12,900)

Kelce has been on a tear since that Week 1 dud performance against the Chargers. Over the past 4 games, here is what Kelce has put up in terms of FantasyDraft points:

  • Week 2 = 32.9 points
  • Week 3 = 22.4 points
  • Week 4 = 20.8 points
  • Week 5 = 18 points

I’ve mentioned earlier how this game is certain to be a shootout, so lock in Travis Kelce at the tight end position if you can afford his costly salary. He is the #1 tight end play on the FantasyDraft main slate.

Rob Gronkowski ($12,400)

Gronk has been somewhat of a let-down so far in 2018 and has always had issues staying healthy throughout his career. He is coming into this game listed as questionable to play, but everything I’m reading says he should be good to go.

Gronk is in a great spot to “get right” on Sunday Night. The Chiefs have been terrible in all aspects of their defense, so there is no reason to shy away from Gronk (assuming he suits up). He is costly, but should have no problem finding the end-zone in this game.

Jordan Reed ($9,700)

After a very quiet performance in New Orleans on Monday Night, Jordan Reed‘s DFS ownership is going to be under 5% (if not less). If you’re looking for a contrarian, mid-tier play at the tight end position, Reed is your guy.

He will be highly involved in the matchup against the Panthers. Maybe go with a McCaffrey/Reed mini-stack and pair it with some exposure to those high total games in one of your tournament lineups.

Trey Burton ($8,400)

Trey Burton is an excellent target to be contrarian at the tight end position. I do prefer Jordan Reed over Burton in the “mid-tier” range for tight ends, but I will have a few Burton/Bears DST mini-stacks to pair with those high total games I keep mentioning.

Cameron Wake is likely to miss this game for the Dolphins, and that is really going to hinder their ability to put pressure on Trubisky. I’m locking in Burton for 5-7 catches, 80 yards, and a touchdown. If you play him, pair him with the Bears DST!

Austin Hooper ($7,000)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are dead last in regards to defending the tight end position. Hooper is an excellent play to go for exposure in this TB/ATL shootout. He is coming off of a huge game last week and should keep it rolling against the Bucs.

Honorable Mention

Eric Ebron ($10,100)

Kyle Rudolph ($8,400)

Cameron Brate ($7,300)

C.J. Uzomah ($5,900)

NFL FantasyDraft GPP DST & Sample Lineups:

  1. Chicago Bears ($6,400)
  2. Minnesota Vikings ($7,400)
  3. Houston Texans ($6,900)
  4. Baltimore Ravens ($5,500)
  5. Carolina Panthers ($5,000)
  6. Dallas Cowboys ($4,500)
