NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Saturday October 13th, 2018
We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for the night slate of games.
Each post will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.
Some quick notes on yesterday’s action. For the second consecutive night, the team with the most overwhelming odds of winning their game lose with the Canucks taking down the Lightning 6-1. The Leafs stay red-hot with Matthews tallying two goals, Marner with a goal and two assists, and Tavares with four assists. The Rangers and Wild each win in overtime. The Golden Knights fall to 1-4 after giving up a hat-trick to Phil Kessel. Three goalies standing on their heads with shut-outs: Keith Kinkaid vs. Capitals, Pekka Rinne vs. Jets, and Jack Campbell vs. Canadiens. Two hat-tricks on the night by David Perron and Phil Kessel.
Below is a recap of last nights DraftKings Snipes action that we talked about.
Oct. 11
Auston Matthews – Still hot with 2 more goals on 3 shots
Steven Stamkos – Held to 1 shot on goal
Jonathan Toews – 2 assists and 3:55 time on the power-play
Nikita Kucherov – 2 shots on goal in 19:45
Jake Guentzel – 1 goal on 2 shots, and a blocked shot
Mitch Marner – 1 goal and 2 assists
Vince Dunn – Unfortunately turned out to be a healthy scratch
Mathew Dumba – Just 1 shot on goal in 25:48 time on ice
Victor Hedman – 3 shots on goal and 2 blocks. 23:18 time on ice.
Andrei Vasilevskiy – Another “sure thing” bet goes awry as the heavily favored Lightning lose 6-1 to the Canucks
Aaron Dell – 24 saves and 3 goals against in an overtime loss
Semyon Varlamov – 30 saves and the win. Yields only 1 goal
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Centers
Evgeni Malkin Penguins ($6,500)
Malkin is off to a hot start in their first three games with a goal and five assists. These two teams faced off the other night and held Malkin to a -2. His price was $7,200 last time these teams met, and now it dropped $700. It is hard to imagine the Canadiens shutting down the Pens the way they did last time out. Malkin and the Pens will look for revenge as they come out as -145 favorites and face back-up goalie Antti Niemi.
Ryan O’Reilly Blues ($6,200)
It is too bad DraftKings doesn’t shell out points for face-off wins, because O’Reilly is a magician at the dot. It did not matter who he was up against in this match up from Oct. 6th. He was on the ice for every important face-off going 20-3 in 22 minutes of ice time. That time on the ice and ability to win face-offs helped lead to a big night last time they faced the Hawks. Although the Blues lost in overtime, O’Reilly had three assists and played a huge role on the power-play unit.
Elias Pettersson Canucks ($5,900)
It is well overdue to give this rookie his credit. It makes sense that his DraftKings price is on the rise. Pettersson has four goals and three assists in four games. He may only be averaging just north of 15 minutes of ice time but he is really taking advantage of it. Many of his shifts start in the offensive zone 58.3% of the time. He had an impressive performance Thursday night against a loaded Tampa Bay Lightning squad, and will look to extend his point streak to five tonight against the Panthers.
Others to consider: John Tavares ($7,400), Clayton Keller ($5,400)
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wingers
Alex DeBrincat Blackhawks ($5,300)
The Hawks look to have something going here with their top line. DeBrincat was brought up last season with the reputation of goal scorer. He is finding success on the top line as part of the reason Jonathan Toews is off to such a hot start. The Cat may only be 5’7” but he is a true sniper. He had 28 goals and 52 points in his rookie season. This line of Toews, DeBrincat and rookie Dominik Kahun looks quick so far and they move the puck well. Possession numbers are outstanding at 56.3 and 56.4 CF% and FF%.
Mikko Rantanen Avalanche ($6,000)
Rantanen is another young option that is off to a really hot start. He has seven points in four games. He is playing on the top line with superstars Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog, which means one thing, points in bunches. Rantanen had a breakout year last year finishing the season with 84 points. His hot start has done well to indicate that it was not a fluke. He is averaging over 19 minutes of ice time so far through four games.
Vladimir Tarasenko Blues ($6,800)
As a Blackhawks fan, I have seen my fair share of Tarasenko live. He always seems dominate this match up. He has not been off to the hot start you would expect from a guy with his skill set. He only has two points on the season, but wouldn’t you know it, it came against the Blackhawks last weekend. I really like the Blues stack tonight, or at least pairing Tarasenko and O’Reilly. They are a major threat on the power-play, and the Hawks are not doing much defensively to keep opponents away from the net.
Others to consider: Mitch Marner ($6,500), Jonathan Huberdeau ($5,800), Nick Bjugstad ($4,400)
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalies
Colton Parayko Blues ($5,300)
Parayko is a monster of a hockey player. He strikes fear in opponents with his 6’6” 230 LB frame. But don’t let the size fool you. He moves well around the ice, and has a heck of a shot. Similar to Tarasenko, his lone goal on the season came against Cam Ward and the Blackhawks. Parayko’s ice time keeps increasing as well starting at 16 minutes in-game one, to 22 minutes in the second game, and 25 minutes on Thursday against the Flames. His shot is so good that it has goalies scrambling to save it, leading to easier chances for teammates to score on rebounds. Parayko plays on the first PP unit with O’Reilly and Tarasenko. This is the three-man stack that I like in this match-up tonight.
Others to consider: John Carlson ($8,100), Roman Josi ($5,600)
Casey DeSmith Penguins ($7,800)
DeSmith is a cheaper option tonight compared to some of the big dogs. He was great in his first game, earning the win and allowing just two goals on 37 shots. VegasInsider likes the Penguins chances tonight making them -150 favorites to win the game.
Semyon Varlamov Avalanche ($8,100)
I don’t love the match ups that some of the other top goalies have tonight, so I’m riding out the hot start with Colorado. Varlamov has been solid so far averaging 7.3 FPPG on DraftKings. He is 3-0 with a 1.33 GAA. They will face off against the 2-2 Flames who have some dangerous scoring options with Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk. If the Avs can keep those three in check, then we should be in for another great night for Varlamov in net.
Others to consider: Carter Hutton ($7,800)
