We get an early start on round two with eight of the EuroLeague teams in action on Tuesday. The DraftKings tournaments start just after 11 am eastern, so if you are stateside, make sure you have them in early.
My apologies to Mr. Mike James. The photo I originally had in Friday’s article was a different Mike James. He went on to have a good day, so it was sound advice, at least.
My Granger/Shengelia stack worked out, but I missed with Melli and Tyler Ennis. The winner got huge value with former NBA players Earl Clark, Joffrey Lauvergne, and Shved to take the whole thing down.
Gone from the EuroLeague are Brose Bamberg, Belgrade, Unicaja, and Valencia. In are Podgorica, Darussafaka Istanbul, Gran Canaria, and Munich. That definitely changes things up a bit! Pogorica is back in for the first time since 2003. Gran Canaria is in for the first time ever!
The cash line in the EuroLeague is usually right around 150 DraftKings points. The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

Guards:
Scottie Wilbekin was the highest scorer on these eight teams round 1, but don’t expect a repeat in his matchup with CSKA. CSKA gave up the least fantasy points to guards last season. However, at just $9,000, Wilbekin may still be worth while. Ray McCallum picked up 39.5 DraftKings points in round 1, and is a better bet to come somewhere close to that against Podgorica than Wilbekin is at a similar price.
Of course, you can always opt for the high floor of Nick Calathes. HIs salary is the highest on the slate, but the 35.5 DraftKings points are worth the price. Cory Higgins actually outplayed his more famous teammates Nando de Colo and Sergio Rodriguez, and would be the way I lean if going for a CSKA guard. Still, the three way situation worries me a little.
There is a ton of value on this slate. Clevin Hannah and Keith Langford provided good value per dollar marks. Bayern guards Nemanja Dedovic and Stefan Jovic destroyed value, and have a great chance to do the same against Olympiacos.
Perhaps the best value play was Nikola Ivanovic, who picked up 27.5 DraftKings points at just $4,700. His price actually dropped $500 for this round, but his matchup with Darussafaka doesn’t scare me that much. I love Ivanovic again at this price point.
Forwards:
Former Laker Earl Clark led all of the forwards with 31.75 DraftKings points, and looks like a terrific bargain again at just $8,000. Will Clyburn was the next highest scoring forward, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. I liked Clyburn in round 1, and really like him here against Tel Aviv as well.
Chris Singleton is always a strong pick, but teammate Kevin Seraphin matched his DraftKings point total and is $700 cheaper.
The middle tier at forward is loaded with good options and favorable matchups. Kyle Hines looked very good to start the year and should have his way with Tel Aviv. I’m looking forward to the matchup between Hines and former NBA player Tarik Black. They are both on my list for Tuesday, along with Victor Claver. Claver especially if Adam Hanga is out again.
Newcomers Devin Booker and Alen Omic both had strong games in round 1, and should keep it up against each other. I like the run that Matt Lojeski got in round 1. Even though Lojeski played just 21 minutes, he was the third highest scoring forward on the slate.
Marcus Eriksson played briefly in round 1, but never returned to the game, leading to a nice game at a low price for Chris Evans. Keep an eye on this situation as Evans could be a great sleeper once again. Stanton Kidd played the third most minutes for Darussafaka in round 1, leading to 20 DraftKings points. If he is playing that much, I definitely want a piece for $5,200.
As with Darussafaka, Gran Canaria is going be producing value plays early on. At forward that would seem to be Oriol Paul. Paul played 20 minutes, racking up 18.25 DraftKings points and is just $4,100. Barcelona is a tough matchup, but if Hanga is out, it’s a little easier up front.
