DraftKings NFL: Week 6 lineup
By Joe Romano
The NFL is rounding into form, with Week 6 upon us. The Eagles grabbed the first win of the week Thursday, get ready for Sunday’s slate right here.
The NFL is past the quarter mark with last week’s games officially marking the feat. All teams have now played at least four games. That does not mean that there is much more clarity than when the season kicked off. There are certain teams who look like the top of their conference in the Rams and Chiefs. After that it could be said that this is a wide open race for the playoffs.
Last week the best running backs were Isaiah Crowell and James Conner, something everyone totally predicted before the week kicked off. Meanwhile, outside of Odell Beckham, the receivers were wide open in terms of the perfect team. Aaron Rodgers grabbed the the best QB performance, to no one’s surprise.
Quick reminder, this piece references the Sunday slate of games. It excludes Thursday, Sunday night and Monday games. This is the most popular play style on DraftKings.
Let’s start the Week 6 preparation by looking at quarterbacks.
Quarterbacks
Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $6800
With no Green Bay, or New England another former MVP gets the top spot on DraftKings for this weekend. Matt Ryan may have cooled off in Pittsburgh a week ago and left the game early but he gets another favorable matchup in Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are giving up the most points to fantasy quarterbacks on the season. Their porous secondary will not be able to handle all the weapons in Atlanta’s passing game. A little home cooking will be an elixir for the Falcons offense and their banged up defense will make scoring a priority on the other side.
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings vs Arizona Cardinals – $6700
Did you know Kirk Cousins is a top ten scoring fantasy quarterback and only has two interceptions on the season? For as bad as the start of the season has seemed for Minnesota, Cousins is hardly to blame. Their terrible offensive line and lack of a running game has done this team in. They will look to bounce back against one of the worst teams in the league in Arizona. The Cardinals are surprisingly stingy against the passer allowing only five touchdown passes on the season, second to the Jaguars three. Cousins may have his work cut out for him with a good Arizona pass rush and solid secondary.
Ben Roesthlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals – $6500
The Pittsburgh Steelers offense was electric a week ago, with James Conner leading the way. However do not overlook Ben Roethlisberger’s solid day. This week the veteran travels to Cincinnati to play the fierce division-leading Bengals. Despite a strong pass rush, the Bengals defense has been middle of the pack against opposing quarterbacks this season. Watch out though for “Road Ben” is a real thing. He’s significantly worse on the road, and in this marquee game it could cost the Steelers. This is a must win game for Pittsburgh if they want a shot at winning the division.
Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans vs Buffalo Bills – $6400
A season ago at this time Deshaun Watson was lighting the league on fire and being priced better than Tom Brady. He’s come back down to earth a bit thanks largely due to a terrible offensive line. Last week he looked back to old Deshaun with his running and extending plays. It helps to have one of the best receivers to throw to as well. This week they get another tough test in the Buffalo Bills. Tre White and DeAndre Hopkins is the matchup to see this weekend. If Hopkins can win that battle and paired with Will Fuller, this could be a big game for Watson. Jerry Hughes off the edge could give the Texans line fits and throw it all for a loop.
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals vs Pittsburgh Steelers – $6300
The game of the weekend for standings purposes is taking place in Cincinnati. Andy Dalton and the Bengals offense get a Steelers defense that is second to last in almost every scoring category for opposing quarterbacks. The emergence of Joe Mixon as a do-it-all back and Tyler Boyd to compliment A.J. Green has the Bengals offense humming. This is setting up for a big Andy Dalton week. It makes sense to see him priced inside the top five in this great matchup.
Value Quarterbacks
Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons – $5800
One spot that it is smart to consistently save money on is at quarterback. There will likely be little drop off between the top scorer and the sixth scorer. Jameis Winston has a chance this weekend to finish inside that bubble. Winston has an elite unit of pass catchers at his disposal. He is also going against a Falcons defense that is ravaged by injuries. Atlanta is a one of the five best defenses for opposing fantasy quarterbacks. Winston, after the bye, is a viable option to stay outside of the top ten priced players.
Josh Rosen, Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings – $4700
If you are really looking to dive deep for a sleeper, look at Arizona Cardinal’s rookie signal caller Josh Rosen. Despite a poor stat line the first round pick looked solid in Arizona’s first win. Now normally a matchup with this Vikings defense would scare away fantasy owners. That is just not the case this year. Minnesota is now a friendly defense for quarterbacks. With David Johnson back to form and Christian Kirk looking like Larry Fitzgerald’s running mate the cupboard is not bare in Arizona. Rosen is a gamble but worth a flyer in tournaments.
