NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Sunday October 14th, 2018

We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for the night slate of games.

Each post will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.

Below is a recap of last nights DraftKings Snipes action that we talked about.

Oct. 13

Evgeni Malkin – 2 assists, 1 shot on goal, a hit and a blocked shot

Ryan O’Reilly – 4 shots on goal. Still won the face-off dot 15-9.

Elias Pettersson -1 goal on 3 shots almost 14 minutes of ice time. Now up to a 5 game point streak.

Alex DeBrincat – The Cat had 2 goals, including the GWG in OT. Noted that all 5 of Hawks games have gone to OT. Strange, I know.

Mikko Rantanen -1 assist with 4 shots on goal and nearly 20 minutes of ice time.

Vladimir Tarasenko – 1 assist with 7 shots. 1 blocked shot and just shy of 22 minutes of time on the ice.

Colton Parayko – 1 Assist and just 1 shot on goal. Over 22 minutes of ice time.

Casey DeSmith – DeSmith saw 40 shots tonight and saved 37 of them. The Pens lost to the Canadiens in a shoot out.

Semyon Varlamov – Good up until the end of the 3rd giving up the tying goal. Varlamov stopped 38 of the 41 shots he saw, and lost in OT.

Now that we got that out-of-the-way, let’s move onto tonight’s small schedule. There is one game at noon and two games 6 P.M. CST. This article will focus on the two-game night slate. Not a lot of players to choose from so I’ll keep this one short for your! As always, good luck! and let’s fill those pockets!

NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Centers

Sebastian Aho Hurricanes ($6,500)

Aho has been the spark plug-in this young Hurricanes offense. The first-line center has been extremely productive through five games. The 21-year-old is averaging two points per game with four goals and six assists. Aho is averaging just over 19 minutes of ice time per game. This is a spot I’m looking to stack against a back-up goalie in Winnipeg. We will talk about the winger to pair him with in the next section. The first place Hurricanes will look to continue their winning ways lead by Aho.

Adam Henrique Ducks ($4,600)

Henrique has four points in five games and is averaging 3.4 FPPG on DraftKings. He was a solid addition for the Ducks last season, finishing with 20 goals and 16 assists in 57 games. It has been a slow start in the possession metrics for this team, but they should be able to turn that around quickly. They are 3-1-1 and are playing against a St. Louis Blues team that lost in overtime last night to the Blackhawks.

Ryan Kesler Ducks ($5,100)

Kesler is back and healthy. He has dealt with hip issues of late, but debuted on the 10th against the Coyotes. The veteran scored a goal in that debut. He played on a line with Rickard Rakell, who I am looking to put a stack together with for tonight’s action. These two together can be a very lethal duo.

NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wingers

Rickard Rakell Ducks ($5,900)

The Ducks may be on the second night of a back-to-back, but so are the Blues. On top of that, the Blues are starting back-up goaltender Chad Johnson. Rakell has been quiet since the first game of the season and is due for a solid night. He has gone two consecutive seasons scoring 30+ goals, including a 69 point season last year. The possession numbers do not look to be in his favor yet, but generally in his career he has been 50+% CF and FF. I’m looking for him to have a nice night tonight.

Teuvo Teravainen ($6,300)

Carolina has been one of the surprise teams in the NHL so far this season. It is still early in the season, but Teravainen is averaging 4.3 FPPG on the road. The Jets are sending out back-up goalie Laurent Brossoit. Teravainen has a goal and five assists on the young season and has meshed well with the Aho, who is also off to a hot start.

Andrei Svechnikov Canes ($3,900)

He’s a cheap option who has spent the beginning of the season proving himself across the league. He has shown the ability to play at the NHL level. On a small slate, we have to take chances. Svechnikov has proven to be a weapon at this level with two goals and two assists through five games. He is not getting the amount of ice time you’d like in a daily fantasy pick, but the #2 overall pick in the draft is worth a shot tonight with limited options.

NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalies

Dougie Hamilton Hurricanes ($4,700)

Hamilton is getting just over 19 minutes of ice time through the teams first five games. He has been a huge factor in the teams 4-0-1 start as they have come out of the gate hot. He only has two assists on the season, but he is an offensive threat from the blue line. Carolina is dominating the puck early on as Hamilton has a CF% of 63.8 and a FF% of 62.8. His shifts start in the offensive zone nearly 60% of the time as well, creating more opportunities to help out the offense.

More from FanSided

Hampus Lindholm Ducks ($5,300)

Lindholm has had a great start to his season. The Swedish-born defender has four points in five games and is averaging 3.7 FPPG. Lindholm has gone three consecutive seasons with 90+ blocked shots, and has 10 already. He also reached a career high in goals last season with 13. Another career high for him this year is the time he is averaging on the ice. Through five games, Lindholm is seeing an average of 24:34 of time on the ice.

Petr Mrazek Hurricanes ($6,900)

The goalie for the Hurricanes is not confirmed yet, but the projection is Mrazek. The way this team has started, it is looking more and more like they are the real deal. Mrazek may be the back-up, but he has already earned some action with a 1-0-1 record. He has starter experience from his time in Detroit and is still just 26 years of age. In his 7-year career, he has a GAA of 2.67. He hasn’t been playing at that level lately, but is a serviceable backup. In a night with only two games to choose from, picking the top goalie sort of feels like a dart throw.
