Baylor played a tight matchup with one of the nation’s best teams, Texas. It was an active first half and a quiet second half, as they shut down the Longhorns offense, but couldn’t provide enough points of their own. The Bears running game was nonexistent in Week 7, with quarterback Charlie Brewer as the leading rusher at 22 yards. Otherwise, he threw for 240 yards on just over a 50.0 completion percentage for one touchdown and one interception. There are almost two full weeks to recover from this game, as Baylor must face West Virginia on Thursday, Oct. 25 in Morgantown. Can they avoid moving to a .500 record in the 2018 season?

Due to Iowa State’s performance in Week 7, and with a bye, TCU took a step down in the Big 12 power rankings. They struggled beforehand, as well, to sustain the success found earlier in the season and have fallen into the middle of the pack. It started with a primetime loss to Ohio State and a defeat to Texas the week after. Then came a pair of 17-14 games, one of which resulted in a win and the other a loss to make the Horned Frogs 3-3. A conference matchup against Oklahoma will continue to put TCU’s attempt at a bowl game at risk. Too much offense might be on the way, and it could send head coach Gary Patterson’s squad into an elongated tailspin.
