Georgia headed to Baton Rouge with College Football Playoff dreams and got them destroyed. Predictably, they fall in this week’s SEC power rankings.

It’s very possible Georgia is the second most talented team in the SEC, but they didn’t play like it on Saturday. They waltzed into Baton Rouge like they owned the place and got brought back down to Earth in a hurry by LSU. Kirby Smart’s national title dreams are almost certainly over.

That wasn’t the only important game in the SEC this week. Florida managed a massive comeback to avoid an upset at Vanderbilt. Texas A&M deserves a lot of credit for grinding out an important win at South Carolina. Even Jeremy Pruitt delighted his Tennessee fan base with the Volunteers’ big upset at Auburn.

As you might expect, that means a lot of shakeup in this week’s SEC power rankings. Read on to discover who goes where after a tumultuous weekend.

The Razorbacks had a massive opportunity to get the first SEC win of Chad Morris’ tenure but their defense let them down. Allowing Ole Miss to go over 90 yards in just over a minute to win the game represents a total capitulation by Arkansas. At least the offense put up some point this week. The Hogs rushed for 299 yards against a pretty porous Rebels defense. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough. It’s very possible Arkansas is going to go winless in the SEC this season. They blew a golden opportunity to win on Saturday.

Everything started out great for Derek Mason’s team on Saturday. The ‘Dores surged to an early 21-3 lead against Florida, but then things started going horribly wrong. The game ended in an ugly 37-27 loss to the Gators. It’s hard to point at one thing that caused the collapse. In truth, it looked like Florida just woke up and decided to handle their business. Vanderbilt’s inability to stem the tide is why we’ve dropped them to No. 13 this week. It was a tough choice, but we haven’t liked the way this team has looked over the last several weeks.
