DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – Oct. 16, 2018

High Salary C
Players costing over $6,250
Joel Embiid (at BOS, $8,800): Needs 38.4 fantasy points If Aron Baynes plays, stay away from Embiid. Okay, just kidding. Embiid was over 50 fantasy points in three games against the Celtics in the playoffs. His scoring numbers were inconsistent, but he’s going to pull double-digit rebounds without much effort and pitch in with an assist and a defensive play or two. I’m a big believer in Embiid taking a huge step this season and believe he’s going to be a DFS monster throughout the year. The Celtics are a tough first matchup, but Embiid has the tools to dominate. Diagnosis: You can build your team around Embiid. He’ll be a force on Tuesday.
Al Horford (vs PHI, $6,100): Needs 26.9 fantasy points. Horford slides in under the salary cutoff line, but I’ve already covered the other high salary C/PF options. Horford is not a DFS favorite because set screens and dribble handoffs aren’t an official stat (they should be), but he’s fairly reliable. He was very good against the Sixers last season, averaging 35 fantasy points in seven games, including the playoffs. Horford is that guy who you don’t think is making a fantasy impact, but then you check your team and see he gave you a solid 30 fantasy points. The Celtics too much depth at certain positions, but Horford can play power forward or center, putting him on the court more often than not as the glue guy to hold everything together. Diagnosis: Not flashy, but reliable and against a matchup that he did well against last season.
