High Value PF

Players costing $6,250 or under

Jayson Tatum (vs PHI, $5,600): Needs 24.8 fantasy points Tatum went over 30 fantasy points in four out of the five playoff games against the Sixers last season. We saw him mature before our eyes in the playoffs and if that carries over into this season, he’s going to be a handful on the offensive end of the court. But the return of Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving will undoubtedly be an adjustment for him. Like I’ve been harping on today, it’s tough to gauge where the healthy Celtics stand from a DFS perspective. They’ll all get numbers, but there are only so many numbers to go around. Diagnosis: Affordable option with high-end scoring. But if he’s not scoring, he’s not making up that value elsewhere.

Robert Covington (at BOS, $4,700): Needs 20.9 fantasy points. Aside from a 46.25 fantasy point explosion in Game 2, Covington was held in check against the Celtics. On one hand, it could shake his confidence heading into this season. On the other hand, it was last season and shouldn’t be valued all that much. The problem is, he was ineffective against the Celtics all throughout the regular season as well. It’s possible that the Celtics are simply a poor matchup for him and it’s best to avoid him. We know he has big game potential, but he’s not worth the risk. You’re better off taking someone on a lower salary who can give you similar production and spend more elsewhere. Diagnosis: If you’re feeling lucky, roll the dice. But his history against Boston is not good and I personally don’t trust him.

Quick Hits

Jerami Grant (at GSW, $4,300): Grant showed a lot of improvement as the season wore on last season. He’s going to play a big role on the OKC second unit. And with his versatility, he’s probably going to play solid minutes against the Warriors.

Marcus Morris (vs PHI. $4,200): I don’t know how many minutes Morris will play with the Celtics at full strength, but I do know that he’ll take his shots when he’s in the game. He did well against the Sixers last season and he typically plays well at home. Could be good for 20 fantasy points on a low salary.
