Fantasy Football 2018: 10 waiver wire pickups for Week 7
It’s already Week 7, and here are 10 waiver wire pickups to consider in your fantasy football league.
We say it every year at about this time, but it’s already Week 7 on the NFL schedule for this year. That also means the fantasy football regular season is essentially half over already as well, and owners have to try to remain engaged regardless of current record.
Week 7 is the first four-team bye week for 2018, and at least four teams are idle each week from now through Week 11. So having good roster depth is becoming important, to say nothing of injuries that are sure to come.
Depending on your league size, the pickings may be slim on the waiver wire. Shorter benches in some leagues also make it challenging, especially if you’re holding on to an injured player who has offered little thus far (I’m talking to you, Leonard Fournette owners).
But it’s Tuesday, the busiest day for waiver wire action, and here are 10 pickups to consider going into Week 7.
10. Hayden Hurst, TE, Baltimore Ravens
With three targets and one catch in two games since coming back from a foot injury, Hurst is far more of a stash than an immediately usable fantasy option. But the game situation on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints is in line to dictate more passing for the Ravens, and after that Baltimore will face the sixth and second-worst defenses against tight ends through six weeks in Week 8 and Week 9 (Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers-ESPN PPR scoring).
The tight end landscape has been mostly a barren wasteland this year. Hurst is worth stashing right now in deeper leagues, on the hope he starts an upward trend in Week 7 ahead of a couple favorable matchups.
