4. Michael Brantley

One of the biggest holes on the Yankees roster at the moment is in left field. Brantley happens to be the best left fielder in this free agent class. It only makes sense that he’ll draw a lot of interest from Cashman.

The biggest question surrounding Brantley is whether or not the Indians will let him leave Cleveland. Of course, it’s his choice, but expect his current team to make a strong play for his services.

If he is willing to leave northeast Ohio, the Yankees could absolutely be his landing spot. They’d love to add a talented left-handed hitter who can help diversify their lineup. Brantley isn’t a classic power hitter, but he is the sort of player who can take advantage of the short right field porch in Yankee Stadium.

More important, he’s a hitter capable of putting up a high batting average. That stat is somewhat out of style, but the Yankees need more guys in the lineup who specialize in making solid contact. Brantley isn’t a guy who will thrill Yankees fans upon signing, but he could come up huge for the team in October.
