3. Patrick Corbin

Corbin is probably the player on this list most likely to end up as a Yankee in 2019. He’s already expressed strong interest in pitching in New York and he’s hitting free agency after the best season of his professional career.

The Diamondbacks lefty may not be a potential ace, but he could slot into the rotation immediately behind Luis Severino. Acquiring Corbin would give Boone a nice one-two punch at the top of his starting five.

It’s unlikely he can replicate his 2018 numbers, but the Yankees would be happy if he came anywhere close. He pitched 200 innings for Arizona with an ERA of 3.15. That allowed him to rack up an impressive WAR of 4.8 on the season.

Despite his desire to pitch for the Yankees, don’t expect Corbin to take a discount to come to the Bronx. He knows he’s the best hurler hitting the open market this winter and he’s going to get a big contract from someone. Don’t be remotely surprised if it comes from the Yankees.
