In an NFC East division that appears to be wide open this season, the Washington Redskins could come out of nowhere and come away with the crown in 2018. The Redskins have played consistent football throughout the first six weeks of the NFL season, and currently find themselves sitting atop the division after a stellar victory over the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday.
The big move this team made in the offseason was trading for former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, who has brought consistency to the position. He has been one of the bigger regular season winners in recent memory, leading the Chiefs to back-to-back AFC West titles before they shipped him out of town and replaced him with Patrick Mahomes.
The trade has worked out for both franchises, as they are both in first place right now, and Smith is a big reason why for both teams. When it comes time for the Redskins to draft in the first round next April, they should look to bring in another weapon for Smith, and JJ Arcega-Whiteside from Stanford is a good-looking wideout prospect.
Arcega-Whiteside has been the playmaker for the Cardinal this season, especially with star running back Bryce Love dealing with injuries. On the Redskins, he would be the kind of WR1 that Smith and the offense needs, giving the unit another dimension, while adding a weapon that can really stretch the field.
