NFL Week 7, 2018: What do Color Rush uniforms look like?
By Cody Rivera
The Arizona Cardinals are — unfortunately, if I may add — breaking out the Color Rush uniforms again.
We have seen some very interesting themes on Thursday Night Football over the last several years. One of the more recent themes — and also one of the most annoying, in one man’s opinion — was the usage of “Color Rush” uniforms for every Thursday night game.
As recently as last year, every NFL team would have an alternate Color Rush jersey that they would wear every time they played in Thursday night prime time. These alternate uniforms basically just consisted of a solid color being worn from head to toe. On some occasions, the color uniforms didn’t look too bad, but most times, they made teams look utterly ridiculous.
That’s one of the reasons I was so glad when the NFL and Nike did away with the mandatory Color Rush theme for Thursdays prior to the 2018 season. But apparently, the Arizona Cardinals will be revisiting a Color Rush uniform for their Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday.
The Cardinals apparently will be wearing all black, which will be quite a different sight from what fans are usually used to seeing at home games; typically, the Cardinals wear their traditional red jerseys with white pants and white helmets for home games. An all-black alternate shouldn’t look too bad, but as someone who hates when teams wear solid colors, I can’t say I approve.
Meanwhile, the Broncos have decided to not be quite as bold, as they will be wearing their regular uniforms for this game. If they wanted to get crazy as well, they could wear orange from head to toe (and will on Week 12, with throwback helmets). But with the Cardinals wearing all black, that would make these teams look like they were getting a little too much into the Halloween spirit.
Thankfully, the Broncos won’t be doing that.
