DraftKings European League Basketball Picks October 17

More from DFS

Round two finishes up today with four more games in our DraftKings tournament.  These start at 1pm eastern, so makes sure to get your lineups in early!

The money line was at 142.75 yesterday. Nando de Colo nearly carried lineups by himself yesterday. We still got solid games from Earl Clark, Stefan Jovic, and Nihad Dedovic again though.

Gone from the EuroLeague are Brose Bamberg, Belgrade, Unicaja, and Valencia. In are Podgorica, Darussafaka Istanbul, Gran Canaria, and Munich. That definitely changes things up a bit! Pogorica is back in for the first time since 2003. Gran Canaria is in for the first time ever!

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

MADRID, SPAIN – MAY 23: Spanish basketball player Sergio Llull of Real Madrid receives the ‘MVP Movistar de la Liga Endesa 2016-2017’ award at the Telefonica Las Tablas on May 23, 2017 in Madrid, Spain. (Photo by Carlos Alvarez/Getty Images) /

Guards:

Alexey Shved tips the scale at $14,000, but I dare you to say he’s not worth it. Shved racked up 49.5 DraftKings points in round 1, or 15.75 DraftKings points more than the next best guard. Good luck finding his production elsewhere. The matchup against Fenerbahce isn’t great, but it’s good enough for Shved to flirt with 40 again.

Nemanja Nedovic has a pretty good matchup with Real Madrid if you want to try your luck moving off of Shved. Just make sure to hit on the extra player that you get with the money you save. Sergio Llull looked like the league MVP of two years ago in Round 1. He should be safe in all formats, even against a Milan backcourt that defended well in Round 1. Mike James looked very good in Round 1, and should again.

Jayson Granger may go low owned at his price and with all of the other talent around him. However, Olympiacos was gashed by guards in the opening round. Granger could have another strong game. So could Kostas Sloukas, and they are still a step below the elite tier of guards.

I’m not crazy about the middle tier of guards, but there are some great value plays out there. It starts with Nate Wolters, who torched Baskonia for 33.75 DraftKings points, second among guards playing today to Shved. Wolters has another really nice matchup against Efes, and will be in all of my lineups.

Nigel Williams-Goss and Dogus Balbay were strong in Round 1, but both have tougher matchups in round 2. Balbay’s price is still low enough to take a flier on, but I would rather go with Wolters if considering Williams-Goss.

Arturas Milaknis and Janis Strelnieks were strong value plays again. The minutes that Dee Bost played for Khimki compared to his price suggest that Bost could come up with a big game any given round. His usage makes him worth a value pick.

Forwards:

Jan Vesely was the way to go in Round 1. He outscored all other forwards going tonight by ten points! Tornike Shengelia had a solid game, but wasn’t near Vesely, and has a much worse matchup today. Vesely is the way to go if paying up at forward.

Vesely’s teammate Joffrey Lauvergne had a nice EuroLeague debut with 28 DraftKings points. I like all three forwards for Fenerbahce against Khimki. They dominated in Round 1, and should again! Arturas Milaknis is a nice pivot off of the Fenerbahce front line. He put up 23.3 DraftKings points in the opener. I really like him if Gustavo Ayon is out again for Real Madrid.

Same with Mindaugas Kuzminskas, but I think I would prefer Tibor Pleiss for that price. Pleiss has a nice matchup with Zalgiris. Luigi Datome is worth a look as well against the Khimki front.

There may have been more value at forward than guard in Round 1. Brock Motum, Tony Crocker, Fabien Causeur, Jeffery Taylor, Sasha Vezenkov, Ilimane Diop, and Nikola Kalinic all cleared 20 DraftKings points, and all were under $6,000. If you are looking for the ones to do it again, my favorites are Kalinic and Causeur. Taylor is in play if Ayon is out again. Brock Motum looks good against Zalgiris as well.
