NBA FanDuel Cash Games Tuesday October 17th

I’m glad opening nights done and I didn’t lose all my money getting too excited for NBA to start. This slate is much better than having to deal with only 2 games. I can finally get to writing in the format I wanted to. I’ll break down each position with 3 tiers – Top, Middle and the cheap option. Cheap options will change throughout the day because of injury news but these will be my initial looks. NBA FanDuel Point Guard

Top Tier

Chris Paul 9.1k: He has a great matchup against Elfrid Payton. His defense is no concern to me. This game has the highest O/U of the slate currently at 229. With Melo being added to the team it should increase CP3’s assist upside.

Middle Tier

Jeff Teague 6.8k: SA is losing all their PGs to injuries and without Tony Parker they will be searching to find a quality replacement for Murray and White. Teague will be playing big minutes because he’s on the Timberwolves and Thibs loves running his players to the ground. It’s early in the season so he should be fresh.

Cheap Tier

Trey Burke 4.9K: He finished the season last year on a tear and it doesn’t look like he has much worry about losing minutes with Frank Ntilikina starting and Mudiay hurt. He is going against the Hawks who will struggle guarding the PG again this season. Trae Young doesn’t scare me at all on Defense.

Patty Mills 4.5k: Deciding between these two guys this early is tough. Mills will need to take over the starting point guard job it looks like with White and Murray injured and Lonnie Walker done for 1-2 months. Mills is a proven veteran in this league with potential big game upside if given the minutes. 5x value should definitely be easy enough if given the minutes.

NBA FanDuel Shooting Guard

Top Tier

James Harden 11.2k: He’s the main scorer on a team in a game with the highest O/U on the slate. Holiday’s defense is a little concerning but if you are paying up for SG Harden has an amazing floor.

Middle Tier

Luka Doncic 6.7k: In his first game he should be able to come in for a sneaky shootout game. This guy is definitely the real deal and my early candidate for ROY. Booker is all offense and the Suns played no defense last year and it should continue that way this season.

Cheap Tier

Dillon/MarShon Brooks (4/3.9k): I have not seen confirmation on which guy is starting but both these guys deserve to play a ton of minutes. If you remember last year they were given a little opportunity and they ran with it murdering value, MarShon got up over 7k quickly. Dillon Brooks also came in when given the opportunity and killed it. Now that these 2 guys should be more involved in the offense their price is too low and should sky-rocket if they are give 30+ minutes. Wait for news on this one and play the starter.

NBA FanDuel Small Forward

Top Tier

Giannis Antetokounmpo 12k: His price is really high but there’s a reason for it. I don’t think anyone on this Hornets team can matchup against him at all. He bulked up like crazy this summer and he could be one of the top players in the MVP discussion if he’s able to lead his team to wins. This is an easy smash spot for this stud who could have huge defensive stat upside.

Middle Tier

Danilo Gallinari 6.4k: He’s fully healthy now and the Clippers need to find a new main guy with a completely revamped team from the beginning of last season.  They will be relying on him to score and he’s shown the ability to get side stats too.

Cheap Tier

Jared Dudley 3.5k: He will draw the start in the season opener. He’s a vet that has shown sparks throughout his career. I’m not super comfortable with the play but I’m looking at playing a 3.5k guy every night for cash and playing with basically 8 players and he’s one of my top candidates right now for that role. He has the 6-8x upside when given minutes and that’s he’s likely to see at least 20-25 minutes.

NBA DFS Power Forward

Top Tier

Anthony Davis 12.4k: Davis is the main guy in this offense and in the highest total game on the slate he will have plenty of opportunities to pay off his high price. Once Cousins went down with his injury last season Davis showed us he could be a serious contender for best player in the NBA. He’s definitely got break the slate upside every time he steps on the floor. The team will really need to rely on him for scoring to be able to stay in this game and with the highest total he could need to drop 40 points

Middle Tier

Kelly Olynyk 5.4k: It looks like James Johnson is out for the Heat and you know what that means load up on Olynyk. Last season Olynyk started to show his potential as a borderline all-star like the reason he was drafted so early. With Johnson sidelined and him in a favorable matchup I don’t see myself coming off this play tonight.

Cheap Tier

Alex Polythress 3.5k: With Collins and Dedmon out. I could see Polythress filling the role of PF tonight. Of course we have to wait on confirmation later in the day like with most of the cheap plays throughout the season that’s why they are cheap. We don’t know at the start of the day if the minutes will be there. He’s shown some upside this preseason and I’m curious if they give him the run with these injuries but we will wait for news later to confirm this pick.

NBA DFS Center

Top Tier

Nikola Jokic 9.9k: Jokic will have an easy matchup against Gortat. At the end of the season last year Jokic was on triple double watch Most games as a center that’s unreal. I usually prefer to pay down in cash for center but if you are paying down elsewhere I love the play with huge upside. If I get news that Babon Marjanovic is playing a ton of minutes this play isn’t as good and Boban becomes one of my favorite value plays maybe not for cash but need some GPP exposure.

Middle Tier

Enes Kanter 7k: If Kantor is able to get Len into foul trouble there’s no one on the Hawks that can stop this man. He was one of the best fantasy centers at the end of last year and should continue his production in big minutes with 2 bad teams and Trae Young chucking up shots he should be able to grab a ton of rebounds. He has 20/15 upside easily.

Cheap Tier

Alex Len 5.1k: Here we go again we could be looking at Alex Len chalk. John Collins and Dewayne Dedmon look to be out for the opener, if Len can stay out of foul trouble he has 30+ point upside easily. He’s always chalk whenever he ends up starting because he’s a great fantasy center when given the start for the Suns and that should continue on his new team.
