The Philadelphia 76ers lost a heartbreaker to the Celtics in the season opener, but they’ll get a chance to get back to winning against the Bulls.
The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a hard setback in their season opener against the hated-Boston Celtics.
Now, the Sixers (0-1) will aim to get back on the winning track when “The Process” face off with “The Rebuild” in their home opener against the Chicago Bulls. The game will be nationally televised, but, in reality, many will be tuning in to see if the Sixers are for real, or were they a team that was overhyped coming into the 2018-19 season.
That question may be premature to answer after just one game, but that game was against a team that is expected to compete for a championship this season. If Philly wants to join that small group, which also includes the new-look Toronto Raptors, then they will have to start beating the top teams in the league.
For now, though, Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and the rest of “The Process” can’t take their focus off of the Bulls, who come into Wells Fargo Center looking to show the basketball world that it isn’t a doormat for other teams this season.
Whether that’s the case remain to be seen, but looking at their roster right now, there doesn’t seem to be much promise among this mismatched group of players. Their first-round Draft pick, Wendell Carter Jr., will get every opportunity to become “the man” for the Bulls, and it’ll be interesting to see how he will match up against Embiid.

Outside of Carter Jr., there isn’t much to change the minds of pundits who see Chicago as, possibly, the worst team in the NBA this season. Again, they could prove us wrong, but I doubt it.
“The Process” should make quick work of “The Rebuild” on Thursday night.
