DraftKings European League Basketball Picks October 18

More from DFS

We have a two round week with Round 3 getting going today. The same teams as Tuesday are back in action with different opponents this time around.

The money line was up at 158.25 yesterday. My value pick of Motum torpedoed another strong outing by Shved and Jayson Granger.

Gone from the EuroLeague are Brose Bamberg, Belgrade, Unicaja, and Valencia. In are Podgorica, Darussafaka Istanbul, Gran Canaria, and Munich. That definitely changes things up a bit! Pogorica is back in for the first time since 2003. Gran Canaria is in for the first time ever!

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – AUGUST 12: Nando de Colo of France in action during the preliminary round group A Basketball match between France and Venezuela at Arena Carioca on August 12, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images) /

Guards:

Nando de Colo put together another strong outing in round 2, and now has 74 DraftKings points in the first two games. This is another favorable matchup with Darussafaka. Higgins isn’t performing up to the price, but de Colo is. I don’t particularly like the matchup with Gran Canaria for Calathes. de Colo is the clear cut option in the top tier.

I’m also off of Wilbekin against Podgorica. Nemanja Gordic, Edwin Jackson, and Nikola Ivanovic have defended the perimeter well. Ivanovic is the only one I would trust for fantasy purposes though.

Kevin Pangos rebounded from a horrid Round 1, and looks like a solid option against Bayern Munich. In this tier though. I think I would rather go with Ray McCallum, even if he is chalk. The pivot off of him would be Nemanja Dedovic, whom I like better anyway.

Stefan Jovic has been really good for Munich far. He even racked up 24 DraftKings points against Olympiacos despite only hitting one out of six shots. Jovic is a safe play with plenty of upside. Clevin Hannah is off to a great start as well, and has a good matchup with Olympiacos.

There isn’t a lot to like in the value tier at guard today, which makes the builds pretty difficult. Yovel Zoosman is seeing plenty of minutes, but he really isn’t a part of the offense, which hurts his value. Dogus Ozdemiroglu has a pretty good matchup today, and could be a solid sleeper pick.

NEW YORK – MARCH 13: Earl Clark #5 of the Louisville Cardinals reacts between plays against the Villanova Wildcats during the semifinal round of the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden on March 13, 2009 in New York City. (Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images) /

Forwards:

Will Clyburn continues to be the safest forward on the board on any given night. I like him even more tonight against Darussafaka. Munich has been solid up front so far, so I’m going to limit my exposure to Kyle Kuric, Ante Tomic, and Singleton. I’d rather pay up for Clyburn.

Earl Clark continues to put up strong numbers for Podgorica. This is a good matchup against Tel Aviv. I expect Clark to be in the mid 20’s for DraftKings points again. If you can swing him and Clyburn, that’s a very good front line.

Kyle Hines has been outstanding so far, and I doubt he slows down against Darussafaka. I’m not a huge fan of D.J. Strawberry‘s matchup against Olympiacos, but the talent is undeniable.

Chris Evans, Tarik Black, and Vladimir Lucic continue to crush value from the middle tier. They make it perfectly acceptable to fade all of the top options. The good news is that all three have good matchups today.

Stephane Lasme has been getting consistent minutes where Matt Lojeski did not last game. For that reason, I like Lasme more from a value standpoint. Zanis Peiners played a whopping 32 minutes in round 2, and responded with a really good game. Expect Darussafaka to ride Peiners again.

Antentokounmpo. That’s a name that is universally known. We have one in the Euro League! Thanassis isn’t as famous as his older brother, but on a per minute basis, he is dominating the Euro League right now. Thanassis has 34.5 DraftKings points in just 24 minutes over two games. Athens can’t keep him on the pine much longer. If he starts, look out!
